General Secretary To Lam met with embassy staff and the Vietnamese community in Laos.

Within the framework of the State visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic, attending the 50th National Day Celebration of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and co-chairing the High-level Meeting between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, on the evening of December 1, in Vientiane, General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, met with officials of the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Laos.

Within the framework of the State visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic, attending the 50th National Day Celebration of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and co-chairing the High-level Meeting between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, on the evening of December 1, in Vientiane, General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, met with officials of the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Laos.

At the meeting, giving a summary report on the cooperation between the two countries, the community situation and activities of Vietnamese enterprises in Laos, and the performance of the duties of the Embassy and representative agencies of Vietnam in Laos, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam said that the special cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Laos is developing well.

Political relations have been strengthened, deepened, and become more and more close and trustworthy, affirming the core role and overall orientation in the bilateral relationship. Defense, security, and foreign affairs cooperation continues to be maintained and affirmed as an important pillar.

Economic, trade and investment cooperation has seen positive and qualitative changes, achieving many remarkable results. Cooperation in culture, education, training and human resource development continues to receive attention.

Cooperation between ministries, sectors, organizations and localities of the two countries continues to be implemented practically and effectively. People-to-people diplomacy is focused, people-to-people exchange activities take place vigorously, further strengthening the special friendship between the two countries.

Over the years, the Embassy has made efforts to do a good job of advising the domestic side, acting as a bridge between the Party, State, National Assembly, Government agencies, ministries, branches, localities, and mass organizations, implementing specific tasks, contributing to continuing to firmly consolidate the special Vietnam-Laos relationship, bringing the cooperation between the two countries into greater depth and effectiveness in all fields.

The Vietnamese community always promotes the tradition of patriotism, solidarity, mutual support and assistance, compliance with the law and good relations with the local government and people.

The community school system from kindergarten to high school is regularly cared for and developed.

The work of preserving Vietnamese language and culture is highly valued. Religious and belief work in the community is also supported and implemented.

The Embassy has directed and supported businesses to connect with each other, promote economic, trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, contribute to creating jobs, improving the lives of Lao people in the project area, contributing to the Lao State budget and doing a good job of social security in the area...

Speaking at the meeting, General Secretary To Lam said that the State visit to Laos by the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation took place on the occasion of Laos's 50th National Day - a significant milestone in the development history of the Land of a Million Elephants. During the visit, the leaders of the two countries had in-depth and effective talks and meetings; agreed to elevate the Vietnam-Laos relationship to a new level: "Great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, strategic cohesion," demonstrating a common vision, intertwined strategic interests and long-term companionship for sustainable development, self-reliance and common prosperity of the two peoples.

Informing people about the domestic situation, the General Secretary said that despite being affected by the world situation and natural disasters such as storms and floods in the past year, with persistent efforts and the consensus of the entire Party, people and army, Vietnam has maintained stability and development.

After listening to the Ambassador's report and the comments made at the meeting, the General Secretary expressed his joy at knowing that the Vietnamese community in Laos is always united, supportive and helps each other in work; preserves national cultural identity, complies with Lao laws, integrates with the local community, is loved and trusted by Lao friends; is an important bridge of friendship between the two peoples, contributing to promoting the increasingly developing cooperative relations between the two countries.

What is especially valuable and admirable is that our people always turn towards their homeland and country. Vietnamese children born and raised in Laos can still learn Vietnamese and understand Vietnamese historical and cultural traditions.

Affirming that our compatriots abroad are always an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation, the General Secretary stated that the Party and State will continue to improve policies to support overseas Vietnamese in investing, studying, researching, starting businesses, teaching Vietnamese, transferring knowledge and participating in cultural activities and people-to-people diplomacy.

The General Secretary believes that the Vietnamese community in Laos will continue to develop, become increasingly stable and integrated, and continue to be a solid bridge and directly foster the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos; and that associations will continue to promote their role in connecting overseas Vietnamese to create a cohesive community, standing side by side and supporting each other.

The General Secretary highly appreciated and commended the efforts of the collective and individual staff of the Embassy and Vietnamese representative agencies in Laos, who have overcome difficulties and successfully completed the foreign affairs tasks assigned by the Party and State; at the same time, he affirmed his belief that the Embassy, ​​representative agencies and the Vietnamese community in Laos will promote good traditions, internal solidarity, excellently complete all assigned tasks, and be worthy of being a solid bridge in the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

The General Secretary suggested that the Embassy and representative agencies of Vietnam in Laos continue to enhance their advisory role, promptly grasp the policies and development orientations of the Lao Party and State to have appropriate and effective proposals and recommendations; promote diplomatic work, diversify communication channels with Lao agencies and localities; strengthen people-to-people diplomacy, and create a deep consensus in Lao society on the friendly relations with Vietnam.

Agencies need to create the best conditions to promote economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries; support Vietnamese enterprises in exploring investment and business opportunities in Laos; and help Lao enterprises access the Vietnamese market; take better care of the lives of the Vietnamese community in Laos; strengthen citizen protection work, support compatriots in studying, working and doing legal business; coordinate with the community to maintain cultural activities and Vietnamese language education for the younger generation...
