On the occasion of accompanying General Secretary To Lam and his wife and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation on a State visit to Laos and attending the 50th National Day Celebration of the Lao People's Democratic Republic from December 1-2, on December 2, in the capital Vientiane, General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security of Vietnam and General Vilay Lakhamphong, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Public Security of Laos co-chaired the groundbreaking ceremony for the Security Command Center of the Lao Ministry of Public Security.
Also attending were leaders of functional departments of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Public Security of Laos.
The Lao Ministry of Public Security Security Command Center project is being implemented with the aim of ensuring facilities to serve the command, direction and administration of the Lao Ministry of Public Security.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Luong Tam Quang emphasized that the Vietnam-Laos relationship is an exemplary, loyal and pure relationship that has been tested throughout the history of the struggle for national liberation, protection and construction of the country.
On the basis of that traditional friendship, the State visit of General Secretary To Lam and his wife to Laos is of utmost importance for the two sides to discuss key cooperation contents for the new development stage to further elevate the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, including cooperation in the field of security.
In recent times, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Lao Ministry of Public Security have closely coordinated to prevent " peaceful evolution," "riotous overthrow," and terrorism; to prevent plots, intentions, and activities of hostile and reactionary forces, and activities that take advantage of religious, democratic, and human rights issues to harm the national security of each country. At the same time, they have promoted effective coordination to combat and prevent transnational crimes, drug crimes, human trafficking, and high-tech crimes.
Currently, in the face of complicated developments in global security, politics and economy, along with increasing traditional and non-traditional security challenges, the two Ministries must further promote closer cooperation to firmly protect national security and maintain social order in each country.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security will always stand side by side, fully support and assist the Lao Ministry of Public Security to overcome all difficulties and challenges, and excellently fulfill all tasks assigned by the Lao Party, State and people.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security considers it urgent to help the Lao Ministry of Public Security implement the project to build a new security command center to replace the Lao Ministry of Public Security Headquarters in Hadsady village, Chanthabouly district, Vientiane capital, which was invested in since the 1960s on a small and medium scale, and has now degraded and can no longer meet the requirements and development needs of the Lao Public Security force.
Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed his joy at attending the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Lao Ministry of Public Security Security Command Center on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (December 2, 1975 - December 2, 2025) and the 63rd anniversary of the official establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos (September 5, 1962 - September 5, 2025).
Along with the works and aid projects of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security to the Lao Ministry of Public Security in the past time, Minister Luong Tam Quang believes that after the Lao Ministry of Public Security Security Command Center is completed and put into use, it will help the Lao Ministry of Public Security to develop more and more strongly in the cause of protecting national security, maintaining social order and safety for the peaceful and happy life of the people.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security of Laos Vilay Lakhamphong sincerely thanked the Party, Government and Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam for their attention and support for this project , and expressed his belief that the Lao and Vietnamese Project Management Boards as well as the construction unit will continue to coordinate and implement the project to complete the set goals, emphasizing that this project will make an important contribution to helping the Lao Public Security force complete its tasks./.
