On December 5, Google announced the "Year in Search 2025" list, including 10 topics: "General trends," "Photography," "Movies (general)," "Vietnamese movies," "Concerts," "Songs," "News," "How to," "What is" and " Travel ." The list reflects the trends and information that Vietnamese people are most interested in and search for in 2025.
From "interest" to "deep application" of AI for creativity, learning and work
The year 2025 will see a clear change in the way Vietnamese people approach and use AI technology. Search trends have seen a shift from "What is AI?" to queries about specific features and uses of AI, typically "How to make videos with AI" or "Create photos with AI." This shows that AI is gradually becoming a familiar tool, closely linked to the needs of creativity, learning and daily life of Vietnamese users.
This shift is evident in the “General Trends” theme, where keywords such as “Gemini,” “Pixverse AI,” and “Women in STEM” appear in the top group. This trend is also evident in the recent e-Conomy SEA 2025 report, which found that Vietnam leads Southeast Asia in AI readiness, with 81% of users interacting with AI every day and 83% participating in learning and improving their knowledge about AI.
More specifically, users actively search for ways to apply AI in photo creation, with leading keywords such as "Create Gemini photos," "Create snowfall photos," "Create Mid-Autumn Festival photos," "Restore old photos," "Create polaroid photos," or "Create toy box photos."
Searching for traditional values - history and content rich in identity and national pride
As technology reshapes access to information and entertainment, 2025 search trends show that Vietnamese-produced content attracts significant interest.
The highlight is the cinema category, when the film "Red Rain" appeared simultaneously in three rankings: "General Trends," "Movies (General)" and "Vietnamese Movies," reflecting the great appeal of a work that exploits historical materials and national pride. Many other Vietnamese films such as "Ancestral House," "Ghost Lamp," "Tunnel" and "Air Death Battle" also had high search volume, showing the audience's interest in works close to local life and culture.
Along with that, the "Movies (General)" chart also recorded a large number of searches for many typical international films such as "When Life Gives You Tangerines," "Squid Game 2," "Bending Over" and "Nghich Ai."
For the theme "Concert," programs imbued with history, tradition and national spirit such as "V Concert," "Fatherland in My Heart" and "Vietnam in My Heart" took the lead. This shows that audiences not only seek out art programs as a form of entertainment, but also as a space to connect and express patriotism and national pride in their own way.
In the "Songs" category, songs with cultural and historical elements such as "Bac bling," "Con gi dep hon" and "Noi dau giu hoa binh " are among the most searched. This result shows that compositions close to the spiritual life of Vietnamese people continue to hold an important position in music enjoyment habits. Songs with modern influences such as "Mat ket ket," "Ga san ca," "Mot doi vi em" and "Tai sinh" also attract a large number of searches, reflecting the diversity in popular tastes.
Google Search becomes the "center" of information and entertainment
Search data in 2025 reflects the openness and initiative of Vietnamese people in grasping information and trends on social networks. In the topic "What is it," leading keywords include "A80," "8386," "sít rít," "lowkey" or "skip leg day."
In the "News" category, weather information is searched and updated frequently, with data related to Typhoon Wipha, Typhoon Kalmaegi, Typhoon Kajiki, Typhoon No. 10 and Typhoon No. 11 among the most searched. Users also closely follow major social issues such as "province merger," as well as viral social media phenomena such as "Brother Hai Restaurant" and major sporting events such as the "FIFA Club World Cup."
Google Search is not only an essential source of information, but also a platform to help users build practical skills and digital competencies in a context where technology plays an increasingly important role.
This is reflected in the high level of interest in the topic “How to,” where users searched for a variety of activities from making “lychee tea,” making “plum syrup,” “lychee jelly,” to making “mid-autumn lanterns,” alongside new searches like “how to make AI videos.”
"The 2025 Year in Search list shows an emotional shift. Vietnamese users not only use Google to find information and learn new knowledge, but also to find their roots, to affirm their personal identity and national pride through their entertainment choices and lifestyle," said Mr. Marc Woo - General Director of Google Vietnam.
In the topic of "Travel," the top 10 most searched destinations are all domestic locations, led by Da Lat, followed by An Giang, Mui Ne, Da Nang, Ha Long, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Ca Mau, Phu Quoc and Vung Tau. This trend shows that Vietnamese people are prioritizing trips that are connected and close to nature and local culture.
