According to VNA correspondent in Laos, on December 4 in Houaphanh province (Northern Laos), the inauguration and handover ceremony of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Hospital in Houaphanh province took place.
Attending the event were Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam Nguyen Chi Dung; Deputy Prime Minister of Laos Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune and representatives of a number of ministries, departments, branches and local authorities of the two countries.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung said that the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Hospital in Houaphanh province has 200 beds and is equipped with modern medical equipment, with a total investment of over VND500 billion from non-refundable aid from the Vietnamese Government to the Lao Government.
The project aims to build a provincial general hospital to fully meet the health care needs of local people.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung emphasized that this is one of the key cooperation projects, which has received special attention and close direction from senior leaders of the two Parties and States to complete and put into operation in accordance with the regulations of the health sectors of the two countries, contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment for people in Houaphanh province and the northern provinces of Laos.
On the Lao side, Lao Deputy Prime Minister Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune expressed his deep gratitude to the Party, State and people of Vietnam for their comprehensive support and assistance to Laos in general and in the health sector in particular.
On behalf of the Lao Government receiving the project, Deputy Prime Minister Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune assigned the authorities of Houaphanh province and Samnuea district to effectively manage, use and protect the project, serving well and long-term healthcare for Lao people of all ethnic groups./.
