General Secretary To Lam visits and presents gifts to flood victims in Hue city

(Dan Tri) - On the morning of November 2, General Secretary To Lam and the Central working delegation visited and presented gifts to people in the area heavily affected by the historic flood in Hue city.

Accompanying were Politburo member, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh ; Party Central Committee member, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Pham Gia Tuc; Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Vice President - General Secretary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee; Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau, Deputy Minister of National Defense; leaders of Military Region 4 and Hue city.

In Hue city, General Secretary To Lam and the working delegation crossed floodwaters to visit people in the deeply flooded area in Chua hamlet, Khuong Pho village, Quang Dien commune.

The General Secretary visited and expressed his deep condolences for the damage and loss caused by floods and hoped that people would overcome difficulties and soon stabilize their lives.

The General Secretary said that the Party, State, organizations, unions and people across the country have always turned to the Central region and Hue city with the spirit of "helping each other", promptly supporting and sharing difficulties with people in flood-hit areas.

Forces are focusing on overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and floods, ensuring the safety of people's lives, and absolutely not allowing any people to be deprived or isolated without timely support.

General Secretary To Lam noted that Quang Dien is a locality that is often affected by floods, so people need to proactively stock up on food and necessities; especially promote the spirit of solidarity, increase mutual help and support, and overcome this difficult period together.

In Quang Dien commune, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, General Secretary To Lam presented 45 gifts to households in especially difficult circumstances, severely affected by floods.

Working with the leaders of Hue city, General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated the proactive and decisive spirit of the city government and armed forces in responding, rescuing, and ensuring security and order during the flood season.

The General Secretary directed that in the coming time, local authorities need to continue to develop and complete specific plans and solutions to quickly overcome the consequences of floods, ensuring that people can soon return to normal life; no one will be left in need or isolated without timely support.

He noted that although the water has receded, we must absolutely not be subjective or negligent, because the development of floods in the Central region is always complicated and unpredictable. All levels, sectors and households must continue to closely monitor the weather situation to avoid unfortunate damage.

Hue City needs to proactively stockpile food and necessities, preserve clean water sources, and prevent epidemics after floods.

General Secretary To Lam directed local authorities and functional forces to strengthen security and order maintenance in the area, not allowing bad elements to take advantage of natural disasters and post-flood situations to commit crimes, conduct illegal activities, and complicate security and order.

On this occasion, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, General Secretary To Lam presented 100 billion VND and 200 tons of rice in support to share the difficulties and losses that the locality is suffering, contributing to helping the people of Hue city soon stabilize their lives and recover the socio-economy after the natural disaster.

Vice President and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thi Thu Ha also presented 20 billion VND in support to help the people of Hue city.
