General Secretary To Lam: Vietnam will continue to create favorable conditions for foreign investors

General Secretary To Lam received Mr. Nicholas Berggruen, Chairman of Berggruen Holdings Investment Company and Berggruen Institute (USA) and Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien Hang, Director of Weatherhead Institute for East Asian Studies, Columbia University.

According to information from the Central External Relations Commission, at the reception on January 7, General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated the support of Mr. Nicholas Berggruen and Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien Hang for the development of Vietnam - US relations in recent times.

The General Secretary affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to its relationship with the US and wishes to promote bilateral relations for the benefit of the people and businesses of the two countries.

Assessing the substantial and effective developments of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in recent times with important contributions from businesses, scholars and people of the two countries, General Secretary To Lam suggested that Mr. Nicholas Berggruen and Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien Hang continue to exchange and explore new investment and research opportunities in Vietnam.

At the same time, effectively coordinate the implementation of existing cooperation agreements between Columbia University and universities in Vietnam.

The General Secretary stressed that Vietnam is entering a new era of development. The entire Party and people of Vietnam are making efforts to urgently carry out the tasks set by the 13th Party Congress, which is to make Vietnam a developing country with an upper middle income by 2030 and a developed country with a high income by 2045.

To achieve that goal, Vietnam persistently pursues the policy of building an independent, self-reliant, and deeply integrated economy . It identifies science and technology, innovation, and the development of high-quality human resources as strategic breakthroughs, decisive factors in enhancing the country's competitiveness and sustainable development, harmoniously and effectively combining the development of endogenous capacity with actively making the most of external opportunities and resources.

The General Secretary affirmed that Vietnam will continue to create favorable conditions for the activities of foreign investors, including those from the US, in Vietnam, and attach importance to promoting educational cooperation and cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

With sincere thanks to General Secretary To Lam for taking the time to meet him, Mr. Nicholas Berggruen and Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien Hang were pleased to witness Vietnam's development achievements as well as the positive progress in the relationship between the two countries in recent times.

Expressing their appreciation for the vision of the Vietnamese leaders and General Secretary To Lam, both affirmed that they will actively support efforts to promote bilateral relations in the coming time, promote appropriate investment opportunities, contribute to promoting US-Vietnam relations as well as support Vietnam in achieving its goals.
