On the evening of October 23 (Russia time), Russian President Vladimir Putin hosted a welcoming ceremony for the heads of delegations and a solemn reception to welcome the delegations attending the BRICS and BRICS Leaders' Conference.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of BRICS member states, countries and international organizations who were guests of this year's BRICS Summit attended the event.
Promoting the voices of developing countries
Speaking at the solemn welcoming ceremony for the leaders, Russian President Putin briefly announced the results of the summit of BRICS member countries on October 23. In which, the member countries adopted a joint statement, with overall assessments of the world situation as well as the group's long-term goals.
The Russian leader then announced that on October 24, an expanded BRICS summit would be held, with the presence of leaders of member countries and invited countries and international organizations. This conference has the theme "BRICS and the Southern Hemisphere: Building a Better World Together" .
The leaders will focus on discussing strengthening cooperation between BRICS and Southern Hemisphere countries to promote new growth drivers such as digital economy, green economy, circular economy, science and technology, and innovation. Prime Minister meets leaders of countries attending BRICS expansion
Also on the evening of October 23, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a brief meeting with a number of leaders of other countries.
At a meeting with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev , Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Kazakhstan is an important partner of Vietnam in the Central Asia region. Vietnam always values and wishes to further strengthen this relationship.
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev sent congratulations to President Luong Cuong and expressed his wish to soon welcome General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong to visit Kazakhstan.
The two leaders agreed to increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, promote economic, trade and investment cooperation, strive to bring trade turnover between the two countries to a higher level; and create more favorable conditions for cooperation in transportation, aviation, tourism and people-to-people exchange between the two countries.
In a meeting with Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedow , Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam wishes to deepen cooperation with Turkmenistan in all fields, including more effectively exploiting the potential for cooperation in trade and investment; promoting tourism, cultural exchange and people-to-people exchanges.
The President of Turkmenistan highly appreciated the role and position of Vietnam. He agreed that it is necessary to implement measures to promote bilateral relations in the coming time, especially the exchange of delegations and high-level contacts, and to find solutions to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation.
Regarding Ethiopia, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stressed that the two countries share many similarities in their struggle for national liberation. He proposed that the two sides strengthen cooperation in potential areas such as trade, investment and agriculture.
Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed affirmed that he values relations with Vietnam and is very impressed with Vietnam's socio-economic achievements. He agreed that the two sides need to further promote bilateral cooperation in the coming time. At the same time, he expressed his hope to soon welcome high-ranking Vietnamese leaders to visit Ethiopia.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of Kazakhstan, Ethiopia and Turkmenistan exchanged views on a number of international and regional issues of mutual concern, and affirmed to increase consultation and coordination at regional and international forums.
