Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Tran Van Lau emphasized: This is an event of profound political and social significance. The works and projects started and inaugurated today contribute significantly to the city's socio-economic development.
In the series of events, 8 projects were started and 10 projects were inaugurated, with a total investment of more than 12,252 billion VND. In particular, the typical ones are the Project to Upgrade and Expand National Highway 91 (section from Km0 - Km7) and the Project to Develop Green Urban Areas to Adapt to Climate Change in Nga Bay City.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City said that this event is not only the pride of the Party Committee, government and people of the city, but also a vivid demonstration of the spirit of solidarity, the desire for innovation, and the will to rise up for a fast, sustainable, civilized and modern Can Tho.

According to Mr. Le Minh Cuong, Director of the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Traffic and Agricultural Works of Can Tho City, the Project to Upgrade and Expand National Highway 91 (section from Km0 - Km7) has a total route length of about 7.04km. The starting point is K0+000 at the intersection of Cach Mang Thang Tam - Hung Vuong - Tran Phu - Nguyen Trai streets; the end point is at column Km7, National Highway 91, connecting with the section Km7+00 - Km14+000 currently in use.

The project has a 37m wide road cross-section, including a 23m wide roadway (6 lanes), a 4m median strip, and 5m sidewalks on each side. On the route, there is one bridge, Binh Thuy Bridge, with a main bridge length of 145m and approach roads at both ends of the bridge that are 456m long, built permanently with reinforced concrete.
This is a road traffic project (urban road), level I project (design speed 60km/h), with a total investment of 7,238 billion VND, using central and local budget capital, project implementation period 2023 - 2027.

Up to now, the investor has completed the procedures for approving design documents, selecting construction contractors and supervision consultants. The site is also basically qualified for the project to officially start construction. The Construction Investment Project Management Board, together with the design consultant, supervision consultant and construction contractor, are committed to implementing the construction in accordance with technical standards, ensuring progress, quality, aesthetics of the project and labor safety and environmental sanitation in accordance with the approved design documents.

The project “Developing green urban areas adapting to climate change in Nga Bay city (now Nga Bay ward and Dai Thanh ward, Can Tho city) has a total investment capital of more than 1,211 billion VND. The entire project is divided into 4 components: reducing flood risks; improving wastewater management and environmental sanitation; upgrading urban areas and developing public spaces and technical support components.
The project's objective is to develop the urban system in the Mekong Delta region in accordance with the master plan for the development of Vietnam's urban system until 2025 with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister. Building Nga Bay city into a green city, responding to climate change, with synchronous urban infrastructure in a modern direction, approaching green urban standards, civilized urban areas.

In order for the projects to be implemented as planned and effectively, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Tran Van Lau requested investors and related units to organize the management, operation, exploitation and use of completed projects and works to ensure safety, promote investment efficiency, and ensure a bright - green - clean - beautiful environment.
Localities take full advantage of the projects to invest in planning, developing new spaces and infrastructure to promote local socio-economic development. At the same time, they continue to care for the lives of people, especially families who have given up land for the project.
Regarding the projects that have started construction, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Tran Van Lau requested investors, contractors, and consultants to promote the highest sense of responsibility, organize construction seriously, mobilize maximum resources, apply modern technology, ensure quality, progress, safety and efficiency; continue to coordinate with the city's professional agencies to complete and promote the investment efficiency of works and projects. At the same time, he called on each cadre, engineer, and worker on the construction site to consider this a sacred political task, strive with the spirit of "all for the development of Can Tho, all for the lives of the people".
