In recent times, after being renovated, Bach Dang Wharf Park has become a frequent meeting place for locals and a "must-visit" destination for tourists coming to Ho Chi Minh City. However, the increasing volume of vehicles heading to the city center has caused frequent traffic congestion on Ton Duc Thang Street.

Ton Duc Thang Street is frequently congested, especially during morning and evening rush hours, weekends, and holidays.
In particular, residents and tourists wanting to travel from Nguyen Hue pedestrian street to Bach Dang Park have to cross the congested Ton Duc Thang road. Although separate traffic lights have been installed for pedestrians, the high density of vehicles makes crossing the road extremely difficult and risky.
According to the Department of Construction, the construction of the two pedestrian bridges aims to solve the traffic problem for pedestrians crossing Ton Duc Thang Street at higher levels, ensuring safety. At the same time, it will enhance the architectural image and landscape of the area.
According to the city's approved planning scheme, an investor has proposed to fully finance the investment and operational management costs of the project through a public-private partnership (PPP) - BT contract.
Specifically, two steel-structured pedestrian bridges will be built across Ton Duc Thang Street, each 6 meters wide. The first bridge is located at the intersection of Nguyen Hue Street and Ton Duc Thang Street, in front of the Majestic Saigon Hotel. The second bridge is located at the intersection of Thai Van Lung Street and Ton Duc Thang Street, in front of The Landmark building. Elevators will also be installed on the bridges to serve people with disabilities, and artistic lighting will be used to enhance the urban landscape.

Tourists and locals walk through the crowded traffic on Ton Duc Thang Street.
Regarding the renovation and upgrading of piers B and C - Ba Son, Saigon Ward, pier B will be repaired, the pier surface cleaned, and fences and railings installed around the pier area. Additionally, access bridges with handrails will be installed from the Ton Duc Thang street sidewalk to the pier area. Furthermore, the project includes cleaning the riverbank and pier area, repairing the existing embankment along the length of the pier; arranging small landscaped areas to create focal points (for photo opportunities); installing electricity, water, lighting, and cameras; and planting trees.
Meanwhile, the C pier will be renovated into a flower and tree-lined island to create a focal point (a check-in spot) for people to visit.
The total investment for the project is approximately 80 billion VND, of which the construction of the two pedestrian bridges accounts for about 50 billion VND.
It is expected that the renovation and upgrading of the B and C wharf park at Ba Son will be completed before the Lunar New Year of 2026; the two pedestrian bridges across Ton Duc Thang Street and the inland waterway terminal at B wharf at Ba Son will be completed and put into operation simultaneously before April 30, 2026.
