Ho Chi Minh City: New rural construction has outstanding debt of more than 84 trillion VND

The State Bank of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City branch, said that the total outstanding loans of credit institutions in the new rural construction program in the area reached more than VND84,500 billion.

The outstanding loan ratio of credit institutions in the new rural construction program in Ho Chi Minh City by the end of October 2024 increased by 13% compared to the end of 2023, accounting for 24% of the total outstanding loan balance in the agricultural and rural sector in the area.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Lenh - Deputy Director of the State Bank of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City branch, commented that bank credit capital plays an important role in developing the rural infrastructure system in the suburbs, shifting the economic structure, eliminating hunger and reducing poverty, and ensuring social security in the city.

Of the total investment capital in the city's new rural construction program, bank credit capital always accounts for a high proportion, about over 60%. This result reflects the role of bank credit capital in the new rural construction program in the area.

The construction of new rural areas associated with the development of good infrastructure systems, connecting regions in the region and especially developing socio-economy creates suburban rural areas to become attractive tourist destinations associated with eco-tourism, gardens, farms, cuisine and craft villages, geographical location and historical relics... In which, the image of "beautiful countryside" from the new rural construction program in Cu Chi, Binh Chanh districts, Thu Duc City, Hoc Mon is becoming attractive tourist attractions for visitors to Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition, policy credit through the Social Policy Bank for the new rural construction program in Ho Chi Minh City also reached over VND 11,617 billion, accounting for 13.7% of the total outstanding loans for new rural construction, contributing to individuals and policy families having capital for production and business, poverty reduction, escape from poverty and economic development, contributing to new rural construction and development of agricultural and rural tourism.
