Thu Duc City announces early enrollment plan for grade 6 of 3 "hot" schools

(NLĐO) - Thu Duc City is the first locality in Ho Chi Minh City to announce the plan for entrance exams to grade 6 at the three most popular schools in the city.

The Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City has officially issued a document regarding enrollment in grade 6 at the three most popular schools in Thu Duc City.

According to the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City, in order to continue building and developing schools that implement high-quality, advanced, and regionally and internationally integrated education content in Thu Duc City, and at the same time implement the strategic plan for the development of education and training, meeting the goals and tasks of socio-economic development in the area, the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City plans to continue organizing entrance examinations for grade 6 for students wishing to study at Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School, Hoa Lu Secondary School, and Binh Tho Secondary School in the 2025-2026 school year.

Specifically: Entrance examinations for 6th grade students at Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School, Hoa Lu Secondary School, and Binh Tho Secondary School will be conducted through a review of application documents and a competency assessment test for each student. Each school will serve as a testing location (depending on the number of registered students).

Students in Thu Duc City take the entrance exam for 6th grade in 2024.

The schools will conduct a joint survey on the same day and for the same purpose, with the Department of Education and Training being responsible. The survey results from the three schools will be collected and sent to the survey grading committee.

Registration for the entrance exam: Students taking the exam at a particular school should contact that school to submit their registration application (only one school is allowed to register and submit the application).

Assessment content: All prospective students will take a 90-minute assessment consisting of two parts:

The test section consists of 20 multiple-choice questions in English covering natural science , social science, and general life knowledge.

The essay section includes: English language proficiency assessment: Reading comprehension and writing in English. - Assessment of mathematical ability and logical thinking in Vietnamese. Assessment of reading comprehension and essay writing in Vietnamese.

The planned organizational targets at the schools are as follows:

Tran Quoc Toan 1 Junior High School: Recruiting 9 Grade 6 classes (including at least 5 Integrated English classes, the rest being Enhanced English classes) with 315 students.

Hoa Lu Secondary School: Recruiting 7 Grade 6 classes (including at least 3 Integrated English classes, the rest being Enhanced English classes) with 245 students.

Binh Tho Secondary School: Recruiting 8 classes of 6th grade (including at least 3 integrated English classes, the rest being enhanced English classes) with 280 students.

Eligibility and application requirements: All students who have completed primary school and wish to enroll in grade 6 in Thu Duc City, with an average grade of 9.0 or higher in mathematics and Vietnamese at the end of the year, are eligible.

Each student is only allowed to register for the entrance exam at one school (no other preferences), and the exam score from that school will not be used for admission to the other two schools.

The entrance examination is scheduled for mid-June 2025. Admission requirements: Successful candidates are those who complete the entrance examination for grade 6 fully and correctly, and who do not receive a score of 0 on any part of the examination. Admission score: The total score of all sections of the grade 6 entrance examination. Based on the examination results, candidates will be selected from highest to lowest scores until the quota is filled, according to criteria appropriate to each school's model.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thai Vinh Nguyen, Head of the Education and Training Department of Thu Duc City, the early announcement of information aims to allow parents and students to prepare thoroughly. In addition, the leaders of the Education and Training Department of Thu Duc City also requested Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School, Hoa Lu Secondary School, and Binh Tho Secondary School to provide information and images about their schools through various media channels so that parents can learn more when needed.

Last school year, Thu Duc City surveyed and selected 980 students for grade 6 in the three aforementioned schools out of a total of 2,837 students who registered for the survey.
