On the evening of November 7, Military Hospital 175 said that from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on November 6, the hospital received 40 patients (the youngest patient was born in 2017, the oldest was born in 1942) admitted to the emergency room with signs of fever, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and signs of mild to moderate dehydration, suspected to be due to food poisoning.
It is known that the patients all ate bread from Ms. B's Toad Bread shop on Nguyen Thai Son street.
Currently, 38 patients have been discharged from the hospital and are being monitored at home. 2 cases have stabilized, have intestinal infections and are being treated at the Department of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

There have been 51 patients hospitalized with suspected food poisoning after eating bread from Ms. B's Toad Bread shop.
Also on November 7, Tam Anh General Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City also received 11 cases of food poisoning with symptoms of abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, high fever... after eating bread at a restaurant in Hanh Thong ward, Ho Chi Minh City on November 5.
Ms. L. (Mr. H.'s wife, 53 years old) said that at around 10am on November 5, she bought 3 loaves of bread for 4 people in her family to eat. Immediately after eating, all 4 people had symptoms of stomachache, diarrhea, and high fever of 38.5 - 39 degrees Celsius. By the morning of November 7, these symptoms did not improve, so they were taken to the emergency room.
Ms. V. (28 years old) and her mother also ate bread at the above-mentioned establishment on the evening of November 5 and had symptoms of diarrhea and high fever in the early morning of November 6. Ms. V. bought medicine to treat herself but did not respond, the fever did not subside, and she was forced to go to the emergency room. Ms. V.'s mother also had diarrhea but to a milder degree and is being monitored at home.
Ms. L. (a company employee) who is in the emergency room said that on November 5, her company ordered 20 portions from the above mentioned bakery. After that, all the people in the company who ate the bread experienced pain, headache, vomiting, and diarrhea many times. About 6-7 people were hospitalized this morning.

The sandwich shop on Nguyen Thai Son street is now closed.
Dr. Huynh Van Muoi Mot - Deputy Head of Emergency Department, Tam Anh General Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City said that among the 11 hospitalized patients, many were from the same family or company.
After examination and performing paraclinical tests such as blood tests, abdominal ultrasound..., the doctor diagnosed the patients with acute gastroenteritis due to infection. These are common symptoms in cases of food poisoning.
Currently, 5 cases have been transferred to the Gastroenterology department for monitoring and intensive treatment, 1 case had to be transferred to the Intensive Care - Anti-Poisoning Department (ICU) because the patient was elderly with underlying COPD, 4 cases are continuing to be monitored in the Emergency Department and 1 case was discharged home.
Doctor Huynh Van Muoi Mot noted that when symptoms of suspected food poisoning such as vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and fever appear after eating, people need to immediately stop using the suspected food and promptly replenish water and electrolytes with an oral rehydration solution or cooled boiled water.
Patients should not arbitrarily use antidiarrheal drugs or antibiotics because it can cause toxins to stay in the intestines longer. If there is severe vomiting, continuous diarrhea, severe abdominal pain, high fever or signs of dehydration (dry lips, little urine, weakness, fatigue), the patient should go to a medical facility immediately for timely treatment.
