HCMC: Strengthening fire prevention, fire fighting, safe use of electricity in apartments

The Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City has just sent a document to the People's Committees of communes, wards, special zones, Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Corporation, and electricity distribution and retail units to strengthen inspections, provide guidance on safe electricity use, and strengthen fire prevention and rescue work for apartment buildings, old apartment buildings, and multi-apartment houses in the city.

Accordingly, the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City requires the People's Committees of wards, communes and special zones to coordinate with electricity sales units to propagate the work of preventing and fighting fires and explosions caused by electricity to the people. In particular, it is necessary to guide people on the work of preventing and fighting fires and explosions caused by electricity; research and implement the direction of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the Ministry of Industry and Trade on organizing inspections of electrical safety and fire and explosion safety in public areas, residential areas, entertainment areas and areas where celebratory activities are held during important political, economic, cultural and social events.

The Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City requests the City Power Corporation and electricity distribution and retail units to fully perform their responsibilities as electricity sellers in ensuring safety in using electricity for domestic and service purposes according to Decree 62/2025 of the Government detailing the protection of electricity works and safety in the electricity sector.

The City Power Corporation is responsible for directing its affiliated Power Companies to mobilize maximum resources to thoroughly implement the motto of "going to every alley, knocking on every door" in coordination with the People's Committees of wards, communes and special zones to strengthen inspection work, guide people to manage and use electricity safely; overcome the situation of using electricity improperly, not in accordance with the requirements and instructions of the manufacturer, contributing to limiting fires and explosions caused by electricity. In particular, propagandize people not to fly kites, release sky lanterns, flares, shoot fireworks, confetti, tinsel, release flying objects of all kinds... which can cause fires, make the power system unsafe, cause power grid incidents and risk not ensuring the safety of life and property of the power industry and people.
