The championship title of HBSF Billiards Tournament Stage 2 - 2025 organized by Ho Chi Minh City Billiards Federation helps to break the drought of achievements since the beginning of the season of Tran Quyet Chien, who always missed the big events of three-cushion carom, from the individual event at the World Cup stages in Bogota, Ho Chi Minh City, Ankara to the team event at the World Championship final.

As if re-energized, Vietnam's number 1 billiard player is excited to go to Chengdu (China) to compete in the three-cushion carom event within the billiards competition of the 2025 World Games. Twelve of the best players were specifically invited by the Organizing Committee and world-ranked player Tran Quyet Chien is the sole representative of Vietnamese billiards to participate in the tournament.

Highly rated for being continuously in the world's Top 2 for the past months, at one point reaching the No. 1 position on the rankings of the International Carom Billiards Federation (UMB), however, Tran Quyet Chien will not easily conquer the medal at this congress.

The results of the draw have not been announced yet, but Tran Quyet Chien is expected to compete with a series of experts such as current world number 1 Cho Myung-woo (Korea); Dick Jaspers (Netherlands), world number 2 player and current World Games champion; Tayfun Tasdemir (Türkiye, ranked 7th); Sameh Sidhom (Egypt, ranked 8th); Jeremy Bury (France, ranked 9th); Heo Jung-han (Korea, ranked 10th) and Martin Horn (Germany, ranked 11th).

Even the group of players ranked in the 60-600 range such as Erick Tellez (Costa Rica, 61st), Pedro Piedrabuena (USA, 98th), Luis Martinez (Colombia, 119th) and Jiale Qian (China, 662nd) cannot be underestimated. Tran Quyet Chien's advantage is his extensive battle experience and a long history of achievements with 4 World Cup titles. The experts in this tournament are also not strangers, having directly faced Tran Quyet Chien many times in tournaments organized by UMB.

The men's three-cushion carom event at the 2025 World Games will take place from August 10 to 14, and Tran Quyet Chien will be in China on August 8. The players will compete in the qualifying round in the first two days, then be divided into branches based on their rankings to continue to compete in the quarterfinals (August 12), semi-finals (August 13) and finals (August 14). Tran Quyet Chien participated in two consecutive World Games in 2017 and 2022 (both stopped at the quarterfinals). This year, Quyet Chien's goal is to strive for the best results.

The Vietnamese sports delegation to the 2025 World Games has 27 members in seven sports - wushu, kickboxing, muay, beach handball, petanque, billiards, aerobics - after the only jujitsu player Nguyen Thi Minh Vuong withdrew at the last minute.
