CBS News said in a statement on October 1 that both the presidential campaigns of US Vice President Kamala Harris (Democrat) and former President Donald Trump (Republican) have agreed to share on the network's "60 Minutes" program.
However, CBS News announced on October 1 that former President Trump's campaign later decided not to participate.

In response, former President Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said the CBS News claim was "fake news." "There have been discussions, but no interviews have been scheduled or finalized," Cheung explained on X.
According to Fox News, "60 Minutes" is scheduled to air a special election program in prime time at 8 p.m. on October 7. This is the highest-rated news program on American television with a tradition of more than half a century of inviting two presidential candidates to participate in separate interviews near election day.
Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to speak with CBS News correspondent Bill Whitaker. The "60 Minutes" special will mark Harris' third interview with a major US media outlet, following interviews on MSNBC and CNN.
The announcement by CBS News comes just hours before the Republican and Democratic vice presidential debate, which will give Republican Senator JD Vance and Democratic Minnesota Governor Tim Walz a chance to introduce themselves, promote their strategies and showcase their political talents.
