On the construction site of the expressway expansion connecting Long Thanh Airport with Ho Chi Minh City

(DN) - Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway is a vital traffic axis connecting Long Thanh International Airport with Ho Chi Minh City.

The Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh section expansion project of this expressway is one of the national key projects to serve the exploitation of Long Thanh Airport phase 1, expected to be put into commercial operation in the first half of 2026.

The Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway expansion project, the first section from the Ring Road 2 intersection (Ho Chi Minh City) to the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway intersection ( Dong Nai province), has a length of 22km, invested by the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC), with a total investment of nearly 16.3 trillion VND. According to the Southern Expressway Project Management Board (SEPMU, VEC representative at the site), among the project items, the construction of the new Long Thanh bridge located on the right side of the existing Long Thanh bridge is a complex task requiring high technical skills. The project route through Long Thanh commune, Dong Nai province is also under construction. The project route through Dong Nai province is about 13km long. To serve the construction, Dong Nai province must reclaim more than 4 hectares of land in Nhon Trach, Long Thanh and An Phuoc communes. Photo: Pham Tung
