Solving pressing problems

At Sa Lung Primary School, Tan Long Commune, in 2022 and 2023, the School will invest in 2 2-storey classroom buildings with 6 classrooms at the main school and Lan Quan School (7km from the main school).

Ms. Trinh Thi Van, Principal of the School, said that previously, at Lan Quan School (98/98 Mong ethnic students), there were only 5 temporary classrooms (no subject rooms), but now, thanks to the investment, the School has 5 spacious classrooms with guaranteed area, 3 more subject rooms (Information Technology, English and Arts Education - Science and Technology), 1 teachers' meeting room. The main school currently has 10 spacious classrooms and 4 subject rooms.

According to Ms. Van, in addition to infrastructure investment, the school also receives financial support to invest in equipment such as computers, projectors, beds, cabinets, kitchens, etc., ensuring care for boarding students in the school. Thanks to that, the quality of education and training of the school has been significantly improved.

Similarly, in Hoa Binh commune, we were led by the staff of the Dong Hy District Construction Investment Project Management Board to visit the school project that the Board, the investor, had just put into operation and use at Hoa Binh Kindergarten. This is a school with more than 60% ethnic minority students.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Khoi, Principal of Hoa Binh Kindergarten, said that the school used to have 6 classes, 150 children, more than 60% of the students were ethnic minorities, mainly Tay and Nung. The classrooms in the school did not have enough space, many classrooms had to be used in functional rooms, classroom extensions, peeling floors, cracked walls, leaky ceilings, cold winds in winter, hot summers, making parents feel uneasy about sending their children to class, the rate of mobilizing children to class was low... Due to the lack of classrooms, the school could not separate classes, some classes had an overload of students compared to regulations, making teaching and learning extremely difficult.

Faced with these difficulties, Dong Hy district invested in building an additional 2-storey solid building with 8 classrooms, each with an area of over 60m2 and a number of other works and facilities. Thanks to that, the school has enough rooms for groups of children, kindergarten classes to ensure the area, enough natural light, cool, beautifully decorated and suitable...

The principal of Hoa Binh Kindergarten smiled happily, now parents can rest assured to send their children to class. In the 2023-2024 school year, the school increased the number of students to 160, of which 104 are ethnic minorities; facilities and learning equipment are complete, the quality of education and training has also been improved.

According to the Report of Dong Hy District People's Committee, implementing Sub-Project 1, Project 5 on Education and Training Development, Improving the Quality of Human Resources, National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas (National Target Program 1719), the total budget for the period 2021 - 2025 is 16 billion 440 million VND; the investment capital allocated until 2024 is 12 billion 922 million VND. With the above budget, Dong Hy District has built 6 school buildings for boarding schools and schools with boarding students in Van Lang, Tan Long and Hop Tien communes.

Currently, the number of qualified and above-standard teachers in the district is 1,222/1,262, reaching 96.8%, of which 29.3% are above-standard.

In particular, Dong Hy district also pays attention to promptly and fully implementing policies and regimes according to the Prime Minister's Decision in accordance with the correct procedures and steps for students, such as reducing tuition fees, supporting preschool children and developing preschool education...

Thanks to investment, the facilities of educational institutions in Dong Hy district have been upgraded, 53/53 public schools in the district have met national standards (100%), of which 18/53 schools have met national standards level 2 (34%).
