At the Adobe Max 2025 event, Adobe announced a series of new AI tools for Photoshop, Premiere, and Lightroom, as well as a new AI imaging model and additional integrations from third-party models like Topaz and other partners.

A standout feature in Photoshop and Express (Adobe's all-in-one photo and video editing, design, and editing tools) is an AI assistant, which allows users to have interactive conversations for “ greater control, more power, and more time savings ,” according to Adobe.
With this feature, users can ask the assistant to perform creative tasks like color correction or image resizing. Switch between commands using automatic or manual tools, such as brightness and contrast sliders. The system can also make personalized recommendations and provide step-by-step instructions to help you perform complex tasks.
In a short demo, Adobe showed that when a user switches to “agent” mode in Photoshop, the normally complex interface is reduced to a command-based dialog interface. The user simply types in the desired task and the assistant automatically performs the necessary steps. The user can then return to the full interface to fine-tune the results by adjusting brightness or levels.
Alongside the AI assistant, Adobe also introduced several new AI tools for Photoshop and launched Firefly Image Model 5 – its most advanced image creation model ever.
Photoshop also adds a Generative Upscale feature, which uses Topaz Lab’s AI to upscale small, cropped, or low-resolution images to 4K with “realistic detail.” Another feature is Harmonize, which allows objects or people to be placed in different environments naturally, synchronizing the lighting, color, and tone between the foreground and background.

Meanwhile, Premiere introduces AI Object Mask, which automatically recognizes and isolates people or objects in video for editing and tracking without manual rotoscoping. The app also adds rectangular, elliptical, and brush mask tools, along with fast vector masks to speed up object tracking.
Finally, Lightroom is introducing a new feature called Assisted Culling, which helps users quickly identify the best images in a large collection, with the ability to filter by focus level, angle, and sharpness.
Photoshop's Generative Fill with Partner Models, Generative Upscale, and Harmonize features are now officially released. Meanwhile, Premiere's AI Object Mask, quick geometric masking, and vector masking, along with Lightroom's Assisted Culling, will be available in beta from October 29. Photoshop's AI assistant is rolling out via a closed beta waitlist.
