ASEAN Center in Japan ready to support Vietnamese female entrepreneurs

On the morning of November 5, within the framework of a trade promotion trip to Japan, a delegation of Vietnamese female entrepreneurs from the Vietnam Women Entrepreneurs Council - VCCI (VWEC) visited the ASEAN Center in Japan (AJC).

Welcoming the Vietnamese female entrepreneurs were Mr. Chairat Liengkajornkiet - General Managing Director of the program; Mr. Yasushi Ishide, Assistant Director, RPA Project Manager; Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Program Coordinator; Ms. Deborah Danker - Assistant Director and CS Team Leader.

Leading the delegation from Vietnam were Ms. Mai Thi Dieu Huyen, Executive Vice President of VWEC, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoan - representative of Vietnam Airlines , along with 19 female entrepreneurs and members of the "HeForShe pink flight" - for the women around us.

Talking about the reason for her visit to Japan and AJC, Ms. Mai Thi Dieu Huyen said: We came to Japan on the 'pink flight' HeForShe for the women around us. The HeForShe campaign is an initiative of Un Women. Since 2024, Vietnam Airlines and VWEC have cooperated to carry out pink flights to spread the message of gender equality and women's empowerment; support female entrepreneurs to promote trade, seek business opportunities, and expand cooperation opportunities for women-owned businesses.

"Today, we came here hoping to learn about projects and programs for female entrepreneurs, and to connect to find further development opportunities for businesses," said Ms. Huyen.

According to Mai Thi Dieu Huyen , the group of female entrepreneurs visiting Japan this time are from many business fields, but their main strengths are the production of confectionery, handicrafts, agricultural products, and essential consumer goods. She expressed her desire to seek cooperation to improve the quality of goods and promote the development of this key product line.

I look forward to further strengthening the partnership to strengthen regional connectivity and comprehensive growth.

He expressed his admiration for the meaningful program that Vietnam Airlines and AJC have carried out through flights for gender equality, women's empowerment, and support for women-owned businesses.

He was also very impressed by the number - the rate of female entrepreneurs, female entrepreneurs who own businesses in Vietnam. This number is much larger than in Japan. According to him, the "pink flights" and gender equality work in Vietnam are one of the efforts to create such wonderful results.

Regarding this meeting, Mr. Chairat Liengkajornkiet said that it was a good opportunity for the two sides to exchange ideas on how Vietnam, ASEAN and Japan can further cooperate in supporting the empowerment of female entrepreneurs and promoting innovative and inclusive businesses, and strengthening cooperation in promoting women's entrepreneurship between Vietnam, ASEAN and Japan.

AJC also informed Vietnamese businesswomen about two important upcoming events organized by AJC. This will be a good opportunity for businesses looking for cooperation and market development opportunities in Japan in particular and the ASEAN region in general.

The meeting between the Vietnam Women Entrepreneurs Council - VCCI (VWEC) and the ASEAN Center in Japan (AJC) is part of the HeForShe Pink Flight. This is an activity within the global HeForShe movement launched by the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), calling for the participation of men and the community in promoting gender equality.

The special flight is within the framework of the Cooperation Agreement for the 2024-2027 period between Vietnam Airlines and UN Women, aiming to spread the message of gender equality and women's empowerment (GEWE) to passengers across the entire flight network.

This flight had the special presence of 20 female entrepreneurs, "coming to Japan to introduce Vietnamese products and promote trade."

During the working trip, the delegation also visited the Japanese Embassy to carry out a trade promotion program with Japanese businessmen.
