(Chinhphu.vn) - On August 7, the first Congress of the Party Committee of Thuong Phuoc Commune for the 2025-2030 term officially took place. This is the first commune in Dong Thap province to hold a Party Congress.

Attending and directing the Congress were Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia, along with leaders of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee Secretary Le Quoc Phong; Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Tri Quang, along with leaders of Dong Thap province.

Thuong Phuoc commune was established on the basis of merging Thuong Phuoc 1 and Thuong Phuoc 2 communes and Thuong Thoi Tien town. Thuong Phuoc commune has a strategic position in terms of national defense, security, and border trade with the border adjacent to Cambodia, directly connected to Thuong Phuoc international border gate. This is one of the three border gate economic zones of Dong Thap province and is the only area with both road and international waterway, an important geo-economic area, identified as the northwestern gateway of the Mekong Delta.

During the 2020-2025 term, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, with the spirit of solidarity, determination and efforts, the Party Committee, government and people of Thuong Phuoc commune have achieved the set targets.

The economy has developed positively, especially the agricultural economy has developed in depth, OCOP products, cooperatives, and high-tech agriculture have been expanded. Urban-rural transport infrastructure has been invested synchronously. Border patrol roads, residential areas - eco-tourism - new urban areas have changed the face of border communes. The trade-service network has grown strongly, connecting effectively with the border economic zone.

In 2024, the Government recognized Thuong Phuoc road border gate as an international border gate, opening up great opportunities for developing border trade, trade - services, and border urban areas. The fields of culture, society, education, and health have seen many remarkable changes, with 80% of schools meeting national standards, and the rate of people participating in health insurance reaching over 95%.

The material and spiritual life of the people has gradually improved. Policies for people with meritorious services and social protection have been given attention. The movement of the entire people uniting to build a cultural life in civilized residential areas and urban areas has been widely launched. People-to-people foreign relations with neighboring communes in the Kingdom of Cambodia have been maintained effectively, contributing to stabilizing the situation in border areas and ensuring a peaceful environment for economic and social development.

During the last term, the Party building work of Thuong Phuoc commune achieved many comprehensive results. The model of "Four Good Party Cells" was implemented substantially, contributing to building a clean and strong Party organization. The study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style has become increasingly in-depth and disciplined. The results achieved are an important foundation for Thuong Phuoc commune to strive to successfully achieve the goal of "becoming a border urban area of ​​Dong Thap province" by 2030.

Speaking at the Congress, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia commended and highly appreciated the achievements that the Party Committee, government and people of Thuong Phuoc commune had achieved in the past term.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that the delegates promote the spirit of democracy, uphold responsibility before the Party Committee and the people, focus on discussing, analyzing, clarifying limitations and causes, drawing lessons to identify effective and feasible tasks and solutions in the coming time. Along with that, determining the task of building a truly clean and strong Party and political system is a key task, of decisive significance in the new development stage of the Commune Party Committee.

The Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission requested to strengthen the consolidation and building of grassroots party organizations and improve the quality of party members in accordance with Resolution No. 21-NQ/TW, dated June 16, 2022 of the 5th Central Conference, 13th tenure. Focus on innovating and improving the quality of party cell activities according to Directive No. 50-CT/TW, dated July 23, 2025 of the Secretariat. Continue to promote studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle. Strictly implement Regulation No. 144-QD/TW of the Politburo, stipulating revolutionary ethical standards for cadres and party members. Resolutely and persistently fight against corruption, waste, negativity, degradation in political ideology, morality, lifestyle, manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation".

Building a team of cadres with strong political will, moral qualities, capacity, and prestige, meeting the requirements of operating a two-level local government model and digital transformation. Along with that, building a "friendly, professional, serving people and businesses" government. The activities of the commune government need to be oriented towards the spirit of companionship, service, and wholeheartedness for the people, proactively doing whatever is beneficial to the people.

It is necessary to clearly identify the potential and comparative advantages of the commune as well as the difficulties and challenges that arise. Place the development of the commune in the overall context of the province and the region to see more clearly the current status of the development level.

On that basis, propose feasible and practical tasks, solutions and breakthroughs to exploit potentials and advantages, seek support from the province, attract resources for investment and development, especially speed up key projects, develop urban areas and borders, promote trade, services and border trade. Proactively develop and implement socio-economic development programs and plans, focusing on effectively implementing the four "four pillars" resolutions of the Politburo.

Thuong Phuoc Commune is a border commune, with a particularly important position in terms of national defense and security, so it is necessary to closely combine the task of strengthening national defense and security with economic and social development. Build a national defense posture associated with a people's security posture and build a solid defense area. Strengthen border diplomacy, cultural and economic exchanges with localities of neighboring Cambodia. Maintain political security, social order and safety, create a peaceful environment for economic and social development.
