School under construction, students study amidst dust and noise

Drilling, cutting, scaffolding, and tarpaulins being erected inside the school… are current situations that have caused frustration for parents whose children are studying at Tran Van Van Primary School in recent days.

Tuoi Tre Online recorded images of the school on the weekend, scaffolding was still erected inside, outside workers were still in the process of painting.

H., whose child is in first grade at the school, said the school has been painting and renovating since the beginning of the week.

"Standing outside looking in, the classroom looks like a cave. Students are studying but the hallway is covered with tarps. My child is talking very loudly, and parents waiting to pick up their children can also hear the construction noise.

I also saw the security guard and the school security lady wearing masks because of the dust" - this parent was upset.

Worried about their children's health, parents had to ask them to wear masks when going to school.

"Children studying in that environment inhale fine dust, they are not sick now, but if the construction lasts for a long time, they will get respiratory diseases in the future, affecting not only the health of the students but also the health of the teachers. There are children who take naps at school, I am very upset because the teachers still let children study in that environment" - a parent shared.

Residents living nearby said the construction team has been working for 4-5 days now, causing noise around the houses. There is dust at the school gate on Road 11, but students still go to school as usual.

Ms. Phan Thi Ut - Vice Principal of Tran Van Van Primary School - informed that this year the school was approved to repair the exterior paint and install wall tiles.

"The classrooms in the front and back have doors, the front has a protective cover, the school requires teachers to close all the front doors, the back doors are open for ventilation. We remind students to bring masks, and coordinate with the construction site to remove the tarps to allow ventilation" - Ms. Ut informed the school's handling plan.

Safe construction

The company cooperates to ensure safety, the school also assigns teachers to be on duty at the beginning, end, recess and lunchtime because the school has boarding students, so it is ensured. The school also holds joint meetings, pedagogical council meetings to ask teachers to inform parents to coordinate and support the school well.
