On November 8, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Le Hong Thai, Principal of Phan Van Tri Primary School, said that every year, on the occasion of Vietnam Teachers' Day November 20, the school organizes a sports festival for students associated with physical education and sports activities, promoting students' abilities.

"But at the end of the activities and awards, the students only received certificates of merit from the school, which is very pitiful. Meanwhile, on this occasion, the school received a lot of congratulatory flowers, but the flowers will also wither, so the board of directors wanted to exchange them for books, notebooks for the students; maybe even candy... to encourage and motivate the students," said Mr. Thai about the reason for not accepting flowers.

This wish received a "shower" of compliments from many parents. Ms. Le Thi Hoa, parent of a 4th grade student, shared: "The group of parents in the class were planning to give flowers to the school. Upon receiving this wish, we "turned around" to give school supplies, or necessary tools for cultural activities during the sports festival."

November 20 gifts tend to have practical meanings.

According to an education expert, on the occasion of November 20th in recent years, there has been a movement of schools asking not to accept flowers and instead giving notebooks; or asking not to accept flowers and instead giving books or health insurance cards for students... These are all the most meaningful and practical gifts.

"Giving gifts, each gift has its own meaning. But with the school's ideas, this is a practical and meaningful activity. I think parents and donors will also be happy and appreciate this wish of the school," this expert emphasized.
