In the emotional and calm atmosphere, proud in the days of the historic April, the memories of 50 years ago from the simple but steel-filled stories of the soldiers of the past brought the listeners back to the feats written with blood, tears and the loyalty and courage of a fiery time, creating the great victory of the Spring of 1975. In that arduous but proud journey, there was the participation of the children of Quang Ninh who did not spare their blood and bones, dedicating themselves to the cause of national liberation and national reunification.

“All for the frontline, all for the beloved South” is the heartfelt command for many children from the North, including the police force, to volunteer to support the Southern battlefield. During the period of 1959-1975, more than 10,000 excellent police officers overcame all hardships and sacrifices, together with the people and comrades in the South, successfully completed the mission, liberated the South, and reunified the country.

Along with the task of maintaining local security and order, during this period, 100% of cadres, party members, union members, and soldiers of Quang Ninh Police wrote volunteer applications; more than 200 cadres and soldiers with good health, good moral qualities, qualifications, and professional capacity went to the South to fight.

Mr. Vu Trung Tinh, former Head of the Provincial Police Department's Professional Records Department, former officer of the Central Security Department of Southern Vietnam, carried with him a heart full of enthusiasm and belief in the inevitable victory of the resistance war against the US to save the country, and set off for the Southern battlefield in 1968, when he was just 22 years old.

Mr. Tinh recalled: We were ordered to leave that day, carrying with us the belief that the resistance would definitely win. However, we left without a return date... Carrying on our shoulders a 30-40kg backpack, we marched across the Truong Son mountain range for months, climbing mountains and wading streams, facing diseases, countless hardships, but the most difficult was probably the lack of drinking water. We had rice and salt in our luggage, but the water was only enough for a short time because it was heavy. There were times when we went down to the fields and encountered some buffalo holes with a little clear water, we had to use a cup to filter that little water to drink, without time or choice to fear illness or not, because if we didn't drink, we wouldn't be able to continue living to fight.

Each story of former police officer Vu Trung Tinh seems to recreate a time of great enthusiasm "cutting through Truong Son to save the country". “On April 15, 1975, Comrade Muoi Huong (real name Tran Quoc Huong) called us up to assign us the task of participating in the Ho Chi Minh Campaign. On April 28, we set off, crossed the river and organized an attack on the Tan Phu Police Department. At 11 p.m., the enemy was still dancing and drinking. When we attacked, the enemy still thought this was a local unit, but our unit had extremely strong firepower, all B40s and B41s. At this time, they knew this was a regular unit and the battle lasted for 3 hours. After the enemy withdrew, we took over. At 3 p.m. on April 29, a number of stubborn enemy police officers were killed on the spot. On the night of April 29, we took over and established the Tan Phu town government. At noon on April 30, 1975, our troops gathered at the Bay Hien intersection and rushed into Saigon. At this time, our main units had captured all important locations, capturing the entire Saigon government cabinet. Wherever our vehicles went, people ran to open the doors to wave flags and flowers to welcome us... The feeling of joy and pride was indescribable, we had completed the mission assigned by the Party and Uncle Ho..." - former police officer Vu Trung Tinh shared.

Not only supporting the battlefield in the South, those who stayed behind also took on extremely heavy tasks. Mr. Truong Phuc Lam, former Chief of Cam Pha City Police, took up work at Quang Ninh Police in 1968. That was the time when the war against the destructive war of American imperialism in the North was extremely fierce and fierce.

Mr. Lam recalled: At that time, I was a scout in the Economic Security Protection Department, one of the heroic units of the provincial police. The war was devastating, all agencies and enterprises in key areas of the province had to move and station in the forests and mountains. Like other forces, economic security scouts mainly operated in the forests, staying close to the people and the area to prevent the enemy from sabotaging internally and promptly preventing criminal activities in factories, construction sites and workshops. Therefore, criminals and foreign intelligence did not have enough conditions to infiltrate internally.

The history of Quang Ninh People's Public Security and the history of the province's armed forces will forever remember the merits, contributions and noble sacrifices of previous generations. They are not only immortal symbols of revolutionary heroism, but also torches that light the way for today's and future generations.

"We understand the value of peace and the mission of the young generation is to preserve the revolutionary achievements that our ancestors have cultivated and built. The fight to protect peace and the peaceful life of the people continues, there will still be sacrifices and losses. Many of our comrades have fallen to protect the peaceful and happy life of the people even in peacetime. Recently, there was the example of martyr Major Nguyen Dang Khai who heroically and courageously sacrificed himself in the fierce and arduous fight against drug crimes right in Ha Long City. But we will definitely not back down before the evil of criminals, not back down before the cunning and destructive plots of hostile forces; continue to promote the tradition of "Forgetting oneself for the country, serving the people", "CAND - Fighting for the people", proudly writing more pages of history for peace" - Captain Vu Dinh Van, Head of the Youth Affairs Department, Provincial Police, shared.

Educating the younger generation on tradition and fostering revolutionary ideals is one of the top priorities of the Party Committee and the leadership of the Provincial Police in the work of building the force, to create a generation of Quang Ninh police officers who are steadfast, brave, both red and professional.

Colonel Tran Van Phuc, Party Secretary and Director of the Provincial Police, emphasized: The unit hopes that former police officers and war veterans will continue to be the ones to inspire and provide revolutionary ideals for the younger generation. For the young police and armed forces of the province, each officer and soldier will always strive, cultivate, train, and foster political mettle, revolutionary ethics, and improve professional skills, to be a worthy successor force in the cause of protecting national security.
