Youth of Sin Thau border commune contribute to creating landscape around A Pa Chai flagpole

NDO - With the desire to contribute youth efforts to the construction of the A Pa Chai Flagpole in the border commune of Sin Thau, Muong Nhe district (Dien Bien province), in recent days, hundreds of youth union members of Sin Thau commune, along with officers and soldiers of the A Pa Chai Border Guard Station, have not hesitated to endure hardships to transport each bag of soil and carry each tree to plant around the Flagpole campus.

In the last days of April and early May 2025, the weather at the border was sometimes rainy and sometimes sunny, but regardless of rain, sun, wind, and storms, hundreds of youth union members of ethnic minorities in Sin Thau commune and youth union members of A Pa Chai Border Guard Station still diligently carried each bag of soil, carried each bag of sand, and moved each tree stump over thousands of meters of slope to plant around the A Pa Chai Flagpole campus, a key project built by the Party Committee, government, and people of all ethnic groups in Dien Bien province with their enthusiasm, will, and solidarity...

Youth Union members of Sin Thau commune and soldiers of A Pa Chai Border Post went into the forest to dig up bags of soil to transport to plant trees at the foot of the Flagpole.

Chang Thi Dung, Secretary of the Youth Union of Sin Thau commune, said: The flagpole was built on a mountain peak 1,459m above sea level, located in the majestic Khoang La San range running along the Vietnam-China border.

Built on the top of a mountain, the flagpole grounds are almost entirely slate. To create space and landscape around the flagpole, the youth union members, who are children of the Ha Nhi ethnic group in Sin Thau commune, worked together to carry each tree stump and transport each bag of soil to plant the trees.

Along with that, the youth union members also collected broken bricks, sand, and stones around the construction site; supported the construction unit in transporting materials to urgently complete the project.

"This season, the weather at the border is sometimes rainy and sometimes sunny. There are often thunderstorms and lightning during the rain. However, we are not afraid, because everyone wants to contribute to this sacred project," Chang Thi Dung added.

For many days, border guards and youth union members of Sin Thau commune had to work hard to carry each tree to plant around the A Pa Chai Flagpole.

Participating in the construction of the project from the first day of implementation (late 2023), Lieutenant Colonel Pham Quoc Tuan, Political Commissar of A Pa Chai Border Post, said: In addition to the main work at the Post, every day the soldiers often take turns going into the forest to dig up trees and then carry them to the construction site of the Flagpole to plant trees, create landscapes, and create shade. By May 6, although not yet completed, the area at the foot of the Flagpole basically has clear shapes according to each theme and landscape.

As planned, on the morning of May 7, 2025 - the 71st anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Dien Bien province will organize the inauguration ceremony and the first flag-raising ceremony at A Pa Chai Flagpole, a project of profound historical, cultural and political significance and a symbol affirming the sacred territorial sovereignty of the Vietnamese Fatherland.
