A week before the holiday, flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to tourist hotspots were almost fully booked. In fact, the booking rate on some routes reached over 85%, many flights were sold out such as Hanoi - Hue, Hanoi - Tuy Hoa, Hanoi - Chu Lai, Hanoi - Dong Hoi, Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc, Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao, Ho Chi Minh City - Tuy Hoa...
On the online ticketing site, the price of economy class tickets for the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route on April 29 is listed by Vietnam Airlines at 3.74 million VND/ticket, most of which are fully booked; Bamboo Airways from 3.36 - 3.73 million VND and Vietjet Air from 3.34 - 3.39 million VND.
For the Hanoi - Da Nang route, the ticket price for the April 29th departure of Vietnam Airlines is only business class with a price of more than 4.7 million VND and there is only one flight with seats left, VN157 departing at 6am at Noi Bai. If flying with Vietjet Air and Bamboo Airways, passengers still have the opportunity to buy tickets with a price of nearly 3 million VND.
On the Hanoi - Nha Trang flight on April 29, Vietnam Airlines passengers only have one option for the flight departing at 6:40 if they want to fly directly, the economy class price is 3.74 million VND.
In the opposite direction, if flying from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi on May 4, the lowest Vietjet ticket is 2.85 million VND; Vietnam Airlines 3.74 million VND and Bamboo Airways from 2.79 - 3.94 million VND.
On the Da Nang - Hanoi route, Vietjet Air's ticket price is about 2.2 million VND and there are not many empty seats left.
On the occasion of the April 30 - May 1 holiday this year, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (Ministry of Construction) said that airlines plan to operate 7,536 domestic flights (685 flights/day), an increase of 24% compared to when the number of flights had not been increased. The number of seats provided is about 1.5 million seats, an increase of 20%. The Authority requested airlines to promptly add flights on routes with high demand, and increase operations during off-peak hours and night hours.
If demand increases, the railway will continue to run more trains and add more cars.

Railway Transport Joint Stock Company said: As of April 18, the number of tickets sold was about 80,000, accounting for about 62% of the tickets supplied for this holiday.
Passengers are buying train tickets for April 29 and 30 at Hanoi and Saigon stations to travel to tourist destinations. On the return journey, passengers mainly take trains on May 3 and 4 to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Tickets are still available for other days during the holiday. If demand increases, the railway will continue to run more trains and add more cars.
It is expected that on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route, in addition to 5 pairs of Thong Nhat trains departing daily from Hanoi station, Saigon station will run 2 more trains departing from Hanoi station to Saigon station.
Trains on the North-South route, in addition to daily trains, run 4 more trips between Saigon station - Da Nang station; 12 trips between Saigon station - Quy Nhon station; 6 trips between Saigon station - Nha Trang station; 4 trains between Saigon station - Phan Thiet station; 2 trains between Hanoi - Da Nang; 4 trips between Hanoi - Dong Hoi.
On the Hanoi - Hai Phong route, in addition to the 4 daily train pairs, there are more than 10 additional trains. The Hanoi - Lao Cai, Da Lat - Trai Mat, Hue - Da Nang routes maintain daily train operations.
Currently, on the online train ticket sales page, the holiday ticket prices have increased slightly (from 2 - 4% compared to the same period in 2024) depending on the train and the distance of the passenger's travel, but only concentrated on some routes. For example, the Hanoi - Dong Hoi train, seat tickets fluctuate around 590,000 VND, sleeper tickets fluctuate around 1,000,000 VND. The Ho Chi Minh City - Nha Trang train, seat tickets fluctuate around 500,000 VND, sleeper tickets fluctuate around 900,000 VND.
Travel demand increases but some bus companies do not increase prices
A representative of Nuoc Ngam Bus Station (Hanoi) said that on this occasion, the number of passengers is expected to increase by 125 - 140% compared to normal days, concentrated on Tuesday afternoon (April 29) and Sunday morning (April 30) to the provinces: Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh.
It is worth mentioning that despite the high demand for travel, some bus companies have not increased their prices. For example, Van Minh Company Limited has not increased its prices, the Hanoi - Nghe An, Ha Tinh route costs from 300,000 to 460,000 VND, depending on the type of bus, Hanoi - Da Nang costs 850,000 VND for the palace cabin type.
For the Hanoi - Dien Bien route, a representative of Hai Van bus company said that most of the tickets to Dien Bien have been sold out. Ticket prices are also unchanged from normal days, from 410,000 - 650,000 VND depending on the type of bus.
For shorter routes such as Hanoi - Thanh Hoa, Van Anh bus company only sells for 220,000 VND/sleeper, the new route from Hanoi to Tho Xuan district costs 180,000 VND.
Bus companies said that this year, people booked tickets earlier than last year for the holiday. On April 29 and 30, half of the trips were full, and the number of passengers booking for the remaining trips increased every day.
Notably, on the Hanoi - Sa Pa route, many bus companies have announced discount and promotion programs. Mr. Bui Ngoc Minh, Director of G8 Sapa Open Tour, said that for trips from My Dinh bus station and Gia Lam bus station to Sa Pa from April 7 to May 2, if customers book tickets online, they will receive a discount of 50 - 70 thousand VND, from 370 thousand VND (single cabin) and 650 thousand VND (double cabin).
Sao Viet Bus Company also offers a 10% discount on all types of buses from Hanoi to Sa Pa, applicable from April 11 to July 31: sleeper bus 280,000 VND/ticket, round-trip tickets will be discounted by an additional 40,000 VND. For high-end limousine cabins, single cabin buses from Hanoi to Lao Cai cost 310,000 VND/ticket, Hanoi to Sa Pa cost 380,000 VND/ticket...
In Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Transport and Public Works predicts that during the 5-day holiday, travel demand will be concentrated in areas such as Tan Son Nhat airport, inter-provincial bus stations, Saigon railway station and gateways to the city. During this year's peak holiday, bus stations in Ho Chi Minh City will serve an average of 110,900 passengers per day, an increase of 9% over the same period last year; there will be 6,680 trips per day to serve the people.
