Speaking at the opening ceremony of the festival, Chairman of the People's Committee of Bu Dang district, Vu Van Muoi, said that during the resistance war against the US to save the country, the Bom Bo village became a legend, creating a heroic spirit and determination to fight off foreign invaders and gain independence and freedom for the homeland and country.
With ardent patriotism, not succumbing to the policy of forcing people to settle in hamlets of the American-puppet regime, the people of Soc Bom Bo (Soc Bom Bo belonged to Duc Phong district, Phuoc Long province at that time) crossed streams and forests to return to the revolutionary base (Nua Lon base in village 3, Duong 10 commune, Bu Dang district today).
Despite many difficulties and hardships, the Stieng people of Bom Bo commune are still loyal to the Party and the revolution, actively competing in labor production to serve both their lives and the requirements and tasks of the base area.
In 1965, the Regional Command decided to launch the Phuoc Long-Dong Xoai campaign to destroy the enemy's military cluster in the North of the D war zone, within the provinces of Phuoc Long, Binh Long and on the strategic traffic axis of the Central Highlands-Saigon (National Highways 13 and 14).
At this time, Bom Bo hamlet became the food supply center for the troops participating in the campaign. With a spirit of high concentration on the campaign, with their determination and creativity, the Bom Bo hamlet people and the hamlets in the base area gathered all their forces and all available materials to pound rice day and night, promptly serving the battlefield.
After 3 days and nights of hard work pounding rice, the people of Bom Bo hamlet provided the Phuoc Long-Dong Xoai campaign with 5 tons of rice in the shortest time, successfully completing the assigned task.
Under the flickering torchlight, the bustling rhythm of the pestle, along with the overflowing emotions of the Bom Bo people towards the revolution, became the inspiration for the late musician Xuan Hong to compose the famous song " The sound of pestles on Bom Bo village ."
When peace was restored, the Bom Bo villagers returned to their old place (now Bom Bo village, Binh Minh commune, Bu Dang district), established villages, protected the forest, lived and developed their family economy.
In Bom Bo now, on both sides of the winding asphalt road are green hills of coffee, cashew, and pepper, spacious red-tiled houses, bamboo-roofed rice, and fragrant rice wine.
Along with the task of building and developing the economy, on the land of Bom Bo village today, the Party Committee and the government of Binh Phuoc province and Bu Dang district have built and developed the Stieng ethnic cultural conservation area in Bom Bo. This is a place to preserve, conserve and promote the typical cultural features of the Stieng people in the Southeast region.
Coming here, the legendary Bom Bo memories seem to return through songs, singing and gong melodies under the flickering firelight, the heroic memories still echo forever.
