VFF asks AFF to clarify the case of misrepresenting Vietnam's national flag as China's, Madam Pang apologizes to VFF President

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) sent a document to the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) requesting clarification on the incident of incorrectly displaying the Vietnamese national flag at the draw ceremony for the 2025 Southeast Asian U.19 and U.16 futsal tournament.

VFF stated a strong stance

On the evening of October 28, VFF sent an official document to AFF as well as the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) protesting and requesting clarification of the incident of incorrectly displaying the Vietnamese national flag at the draw ceremony for the 2025 Southeast Asian U.19 and U.16 futsal championship, which took place on the afternoon of October 28 in Nonthaburi, Thailand.

Accordingly, during the drawing ceremony, the Chinese flag was displayed instead of the Vietnamese flag on the Vietnamese team's drawing ticket.

In a document sent to the AFF, the VFF clearly stated its view that this serious incident could have consequences affecting Vietnam's image and negatively impacting the solidarity of the ASEAN community.

VFF requested AFF to clarify the cause of the above incident and ensure strict measures to prevent similar mistakes from happening again in upcoming events.

VFF believes that AFF is also fully aware of the seriousness of this incident and will handle it with the highest sense of responsibility, caution and professionalism.

It is known that immediately after the incident occurred, FAT President Madam Pang called VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan to apologize. FAT General Secretary also contacted VFF General Secretary to apologize for this serious incident.
