Maria Mata, a longtime employee of a luxury hotel chain in San Francisco, USA, told HuffPost: "Many guests have the habit of re-spreading the blankets and sheets as they did when they checked in. Actually, this is unnecessary."
Mata said the housekeeping staff would always have to take everything apart to change new clothes, preparing for the next guest.
Instead of folding sheets, guests can help the housekeeping staff by putting trash in the right place, putting used towels in a neat place, and not throwing things around under the bed or on the floor to make it easier to vacuum and clean.
In addition, many guests hang a “do not disturb” sign during their stay because they think it will save the hotel staff some work. However, this is completely counterproductive.
"A hotel room that is not cleaned every day will be very dirty. Cleaning the room afterwards will be more laborious and time-consuming," said Mata.
