The Vietnam National Tourism Administration announced that the ceremony to welcome the 20 millionth international visitor will be held at Phu Quoc International Airport, one of the busiest international air gateways in the southern region. In addition to the 20 millionth visitor of the year, Vietnam will also honor the 19,999,999th and 20,000,001st visitors on the same day.
Passengers will receive many gifts representing the unique characteristics of Phu Quoc, a symbol of Vietnam's tourism transformation and the country's honor of welcoming its 20 millionth international visitor.
This is the first time in 65 years of its formation and development that Vietnam's tourism industry has reached the milestone of 20 million international visitors in a single year. This event marks a new development level in the process of recovery and growth.
"The tourism industry is witnessing an impressive leap forward, clearly demonstrating its strong resilience and flexible adaptability after a period of significant upheaval," Dr. Duong Duc Minh, Deputy Director of the Institute for Economic and Tourism Development Research, told Tri Thuc - Znews.

At the beginning of the year, the tourism industry set a target of welcoming 22-23 million international visitors. By August, the government set a target of striving to achieve at least 25 million international visitors for the whole year.
According to Dr. Duong Duc Minh, the target of 22-23 million international visitors is ambitious but entirely achievable. This figure reflects the strong desire for recovery in the tourism industry, while also placing high demands on operational capacity, infrastructure, and product quality.
According to the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism), Vietnam's tourism sector is recovering remarkably well, while other countries in the Asia-Pacific region have only reached about 90% of their pre-Covid-19 levels. The organization ranks Vietnam among the fastest-growing countries in the world, on par with Japan.
This result is considered a testament to the effectiveness of the consistent guidance from the Government and the Prime Minister in implementing tasks and solutions to promote tourism recovery and development.
Policies aimed at improving visa procedures, expanding the international tourist market, strengthening promotion and marketing, and enhancing the quality of tourism products and services have contributed to consolidating Vietnam's position as a safe, attractive, and increasingly competitive destination in the region and globally.
