Mr. Ta Hoang Linh, Director of the Foreign Market Development Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade, stated that in recent times, the global economy has continuously experienced shocks such as epidemics, geopolitical conflicts, and inflation, posing many challenges to the production and business activities of Vietnamese enterprises. In response to this situation, Vietnam has implemented a strategy of diversifying markets, products, and distribution channels, gradually maintaining and expanding its position in international trade.
Mr. Ta Hoang Linh stated that expanding export markets is not only an urgent requirement but also a long-term strategy. Besides traditional markets such as the US, Europe, and Japan, Vietnamese businesses need to focus on exploring potential markets such as the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, and West Asia, where import demand is high and competition is less intense. The Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to support businesses through B2B networking programs, export capacity building training, and national brand development.
According to Mr. Hoang Linh, one of the activities that has yielded practical results is the series of events "Connecting International Goods Supply Chains – Vietnam International Sourcing" and the Export Forum, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in coordination with the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City from 2023 to the present. In 2024, this series of events will continue from September 4th to 6th at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center, in conjunction with the Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair, creating a multi-sector connection chain. More than 400 Vietnamese businesses will introduce over 12,000 products belonging to four product groups: agricultural products - food - beverages; consumer industrial goods; supporting industries; and electronic equipment.
Ms. Nguyen Cam Tu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Promotion Center, said that the annual ITE HCMC Fair is an important event to promote the image of Ho Chi Minh City as a tourist destination to foreign visitors. Therefore, this year the tourism industry has been strengthening its role as a trade bridge through diverse tourism products: from urban tourism, beach and forest tourism, to industrial tourism, MICE... to bring many new tourism products to the ITE HCMC Fair in September. Through this fair, businesses will have the opportunity to connect directly with large tourism corporations and enterprises in a B2B format, creating conditions to promote and introduce Vietnamese tourism products closer to international tourists...
Meanwhile, Mr. Tran Phu Lu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Promotion Center (ITPC), said that after three years of implementing a series of export promotion activities, many Vietnamese businesses have accessed major partners and signed high-value orders. In particular, through networking forums and international trade fairs organized in collaboration with ITPC, Vietnamese products have initially made their mark in new markets such as the Middle East, North Africa, Malaysia, and Indonesia. In the Australian and Indian markets, some Ho Chi Minh City businesses have successfully introduced their goods into local retail systems.
“The key to the success of this series of events is genuine networking, design tailored to the needs of importers, and the supply capabilities of Vietnamese businesses. Therefore, businesses also expect that through this year's event, more potential products will attract the attention and selection of international partners, contributing to enhancing competitiveness and building Vietnamese brands in the global market,” said Mr. Tran Phu Lu.
