Speaking ahead of the working visit of General Secretary and President To Lam leading a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to attend the Future Summit, 79th United Nations General Assembly, President of the 78th United Nations General Assembly Dennis Francis affirmed: Vietnam is an active and responsible member, making important contributions to the United Nations and the international community.

Mr. Dennis Francis said that the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly focuses on urgent global issues, including strengthening peace and sustainable development, enhancing values in health, education, and promoting and protecting human rights. These are also strong commitments of Vietnam. According to Mr. Dennis Francis, the working trip of General Secretary and President To Lam shows Vietnam's highest level commitment to the common work of the international community, while contributing to raising the relationship between Vietnam and the United Nations to a new level.

The United Nations Resident Coordinator in Vietnam, Ms. Pauline Tamesis, also stated: Vietnam's participation at the Future Summit is very important. This is a platform for cooperation to address global challenges, building a fairer and more sustainable future for the world. The Summit is an important opportunity for Vietnam to lead and contribute to global dialogues, as well as make commitments and take actions.

Vietnam has contributed its voice and leadership to important discussions on climate change, providing a timely reminder of the vulnerability of a developing country to climate change.

According to Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, this is the first time the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam has directly attended high-level meetings at the United Nations General Assembly and is also the first multilateral diplomatic activity of General Secretary and President To Lam at the world's largest multilateral international organization.

This strongly affirms at the highest level the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification, proactive and active international integration comprehensively, deeply and effectively, sharing Vietnam's vision and solutions on the role of the United Nations and major world issues. The working trip demonstrates the deep interest of the Party and State of Vietnam in multilateral cooperation, major agendas of the international community, as well as Vietnam-United Nations relations.

Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang emphasized that the Vietnam-United Nations relationship has made remarkable progress in many aspects and levels. The United Nations is a trusted and close friend of Vietnam and Vietnam deeply shares the core values, proactively and actively contributes to the United Nations. Over the past time, Vietnam has achieved many achievements and demonstrated itself to be a responsible and active member, proactively participating in common activities.

General Secretary and President To Lam's working trip to attend conferences within the framework of the United Nations General Assembly and work in the United States will contribute to consolidating the momentum of progress in Vietnam-US relations, contributing to promoting peace, cooperation and progress in the region and the world.
