Vietnam clearly understands and is highly committed to achieving success in the IPU agendas.

This was the comment of President of the Inter- Parliamentary Union (IPU) Duarte Pacheco during a working session with Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee Vu Hai Ha on September 15, a bilateral meeting on the occasion of the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians.

At the meeting, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Vu Hai Ha happily welcomed IPU President Duarte Pacheco and IPU delegates, young parliamentarians of various countries to Vietnam to attend the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians.

IPU President Duarte Pacheco sincerely thanked the Vietnamese National Assembly for its warm welcome and careful preparation to ensure the successful organization of the Conference. He also highly appreciated Vietnam's experience in organizing international multilateral diplomatic events, including the successful organization of the 132nd IPU General Assembly, demonstrating that Vietnam has a clear understanding and is highly committed to the success of the IPU's agenda.

The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee acknowledged and highly appreciated IPU President Duarte Pacheco for his efforts and contributions during his term to help the IPU make great strides in the number of members of parliaments of participating countries. Currently, the IPU has 179 members - the largest number ever.

The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee hopes that the IPU President will continue to promote and take specific actions to encourage the remaining countries to participate in the IPU. Because these countries are mainly small countries in the South Pacific or the Caribbean Islands, and do not have the financial capacity to participate. On the IPU side, there will also be a mechanism to support these countries to participate so that the IPU has the full participation and contribution of all countries. And on the Vietnam side, we will continue to actively contribute to the common activities of the IPU; we hope to continue to host more conferences and other mechanisms within the framework of the IPU's activities, especially the World Conference of Speakers of Parliament.

Welcoming Vietnam's efforts in participating in international activities in general and IPU activities in particular, the IPU President hopes that in IPU activities, the group of Asia-Pacific countries including Vietnam will operate more effectively and cohesively, contributing to the results and achievements of IPU.
