On the afternoon of September 7, at the National Assembly House, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue received the France-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Group of the French Senate led by Ms. Catherine Deroche, Chairwoman of the Group.
Expressing his pleasure at meeting again with Ms. Catherine Deroche, a close friend of Vietnam, the National Assembly Chairman welcomed the members of the Group to visit and work in Vietnam, and expressed his belief that the visit of the Delegation will contribute to strengthening the relationship between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the French Senate in particular and the relationship between the two countries in general.
The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-France diplomatic relations (1973-2023), many practical activities have been organized, notably the successful organization of the Cooperation Conference between Vietnamese and French localities (April 2023), the opening of the new location of the French Cultural Center in Hanoi, the Vietnam Colors Exhibition in Paris (July 2023)...
Ms. Catherine Deroche thanked the National Assembly Chairwoman for taking the time to meet her; and expressed her joy and emotion when recalling the visit to Vietnam with the delegation of the President of the Senate Gérard Larcher (December 2022). The delegation received a solemn and friendly welcome from National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue on the occasion of the highest leaders of the two legislative bodies launching the Ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Strategic Partnership.
The Chairman of the French-Vietnamese Friendship Parliamentarians' Group of the French Senate emphasized that the good cooperative relationship between the two countries is extremely rich and diverse, in many fields from: Politics, diplomacy, economics, health, science... The group hopes that the two sides will continue to open up new areas of cooperation, including solving global challenges of the times such as environmental protection and climate change response.
Emphasizing that France is Vietnam's leading trade partner in the European Union (EU), Ms. Catherine Deroche hopes that the two sides will continue to promote economic cooperation; at the same time, she said that the French Senate plays a representative role for localities.
The Vietnam-France Local Cooperation Conference held in April this year was an opportunity for the two sides to discuss traditional cooperation topics and open up new cooperation prospects in new areas. With many active members, the France-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group of the French Senate is always ready to promote the two sides to enhance understanding and long-term cooperation.
The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the role and contributions of the Group in strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two legislative bodies; serving as a bridge of friendship and cooperation in many fields between the two countries.
Informing that the Vietnamese National Assembly has established the Vietnam-France Friendship Parliamentary Group, thereby enhancing the role and activities of the Vietnamese National Assembly in the Francophone Community, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue suggested that in the coming time, the two Groups continue to cooperate closely, with many activities to strengthen cooperation between French regions and Vietnamese localities.
Along with that, the two Friendship Parliamentary Groups contributed to promoting cooperation with local elected bodies, especially those localities where the two countries have had and are having cooperative and twinned relations; promoting and urging supervision of agreements and documents signed between the two governments.
The French-Vietnamese parliamentary group strengthens connections between businesses of the two countries, as well as French businesses coming to learn about, invest in, and do long-term business in Vietnam, especially in the context of the world restructuring investment and trade flows.

At the meeting, agreeing with Ms. Catherine Deroche, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said that the two sides need to strengthen cooperation in areas such as climate change adaptation, environmental protection, equitable energy transition, and enhanced economic connectivity.
Welcoming France's initiative to organize the upcoming ASEAN Market Forum, the National Assembly Chairman said Vietnam is ready to send representatives to attend.
The Vietnamese National Assembly is about to host the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians on September 14. The National Assembly Chairman hopes that the French Parliament will send a delegation to attend to enhance exchanges and understanding between young parliamentarians from different countries, as well as contribute to the contents of the Conference, affirming the role of young people in promoting the implementation of current sustainable development goals.
