On October 26, in response to a reporter's question about Vietnam's reaction to Cambodia and Thailand signing a peace document on the occasion of attending the 47th ASEAN Summit and related Summits held in Malaysia, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Pham Thu Hang stated: "As a neighbor of Cambodia and Thailand and an ASEAN member, Vietnam is interested in and welcomes Cambodia and Thailand signing a peace document on October 26, 2025. This is an important and positive step, demonstrating the commitment of the two countries to peace, cooperation and development, in accordance with the ASEAN Charter and the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC). We appreciate the efforts of countries, including Malaysia, ASEAN Chair 2025 and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the United States and President Donald Trump, and relevant parties in the process of seeking a peaceful solution to the problem.
Vietnam believes that the peace document will create a foundation to strengthen trust and move towards a lasting peaceful solution. Vietnam will continue to actively participate in ASEAN's joint efforts to support Cambodia and Thailand in fully and effectively implementing this document."
