The River of Fire and Flowers took place in pouring rain.
The show took place in pouring rain from beginning to near the end.
The singing mixed with the sound of rain made Words of Gratitude - River of Fire and Flowers become an emotional memorial stage right at Long Dai ferry, "where the shrapnel of enemy bombs was thicker than gravel" in the past.
This was one of the most fierce "fire coordinates" on the legendary Truong Son route, where our army and people had to face the rain of bombs and bullets from the US to cut off the supply line to the South.
With the name Gratitude - The River of Fire and Flowers , the program recalls the tragic past by the sacred river, and is also a tribute to the previous generations who fell for this independence and freedom.
The poem was unfinished and you didn't come back. The 80 year old woman cried until she had no more tears.
The program opens with the image of an old soldier returning to the old battlefield, carrying a diary of time, reminiscing about the marching steps, the ferries across the river and the comrades who will forever remain here.
Not only the audience at Long Dai ferry but also the television audience across the country were moved when old films and stories were revealed.
It is the story of the heroic sacrifice of 16 youth volunteers of Company 130, from Thai Binh province, during the fierce bombing of the enemy in September 1972, representing the heroic epic of Vietnamese youth, with the ferry plank "with hundreds of bullet holes" as witness.
Martyr Bui Nang Dac's sister cried her eyes out next to his statue - Screenshot
Or the story of martyr Bui Nang Dac "having to go" to protect the country, told by his sister, depicts the dreams and aspirations of a young soldier of the time.
In a letter sent to his family, the martyr said "I will try to complete my mission to come home to celebrate Tet with my mother" but his soul will forever remain in Quang Tri land.
More than half a century has passed, the family still reads and rereads the verses written at the age of twenty: "On the Truong Son mountain range, the rain and forests are full of leeches/ I still remember you - mom/ When you left, you made one wish/ Eighteen months from now, you will sit next to me/ Eighteen months of duty/ When you return, will your child still be the same as before?"
The first time she entered Quang Tri, the martyr's 80-year-old sister cried her eyes out next to the statue engraved with the above verses placed next to Long Dai ferry:
"When will it ever be like the old days again? I just want to hold you in my arms and tell you all the stories of the past. Stories about home, stories about my childhood, stories about my hometown... I am old and weak, it has been many years since I have been able to visit you. I wonder when there will be another time? There will never be a time like the old days again, my dear."

Continue the story of peace to end half a century of pain
The program combines documentary reporting, character interviews, live scenes and music. The production team has made the most of the spaces at the Long Dai Ferry Relic Site.
The historic river becomes part of the stage. The ferry bridge, a witness to a time, is now lit up to connect the past and the present.
Right at the historic ferry terminal, a series of songs resounded, blending with the mountains and rivers. In addition to singing a duet with Viet Danh on the songs Truong Son Dong, Truong Son Tay, "beautiful sister" Duong Hoang Yen proudly sang the Fatherland in the sunlight.
Tan Minh sang the emotional and narrative song My Memories , while Hoa Minzy sang Pain in the Middle of Peace - soundtrack of the movie Red Rain - on Quang Tri land.
Quoc Thien sings Red Leaves in the Endless Rain - Video: QUOC NAM
"Brother" Quoc Thien stood in the rain, bringing a new generation's Red Leaves but no less heroic. Ho Ngoc Ha sang Red Flower Color for the first time in her Central homeland, thanking the previous generation.
In the rain of Binh Tri Thien today, there is a Binh Tri Thien yesterday that can never be forgotten.
Tung Duong sang three songs at once, singing to satisfy the heart of a son who had been away from home for a long time. If Binh Tri Thien was a heroic and tragic tale , clearly depicting the pain but resilience of the people of the heroic land, then What's More Beautiful is a simple epic about a generation on the road for peace.
Tung Duong concluded Words of Gratitude - River of Fire and Flowers with the hit song Continuing the Story of Peace by Nguyen Van Chung, like a message from yesterday sent to today and tomorrow.
