Vietcombank accompanies the event Digital Transformation of Banking Industry in 2024

This year's theme is " Expanding connectivity and developing the digital ecosystem" - a continuation of the theme " Application of population data in banking activities - a driving force for digital transformation" of the Banking Industry Digital Transformation Day 2023.

This topic affirms the determination of the banking industry in continuing to effectively implement the tasks in the Banking Industry Digital Transformation Plan to 2025, with a vision to 2030 (Decision 810/QD-NHNN dated May 11, 2021), Project 06 of the Prime Minister (Decision 06/QD-TTg dated January 6, 2022 of the Prime Minister approving the Project on developing applications of data on population, identification and electronic authentication to serve national digital transformation in the period 2022-2025, with a vision to 2030) as well as the Coordination Plan 01/KHPH-BCA-NHNN between the Ministry of Public Security and the State Bank; At the same time, it contributes to realizing the goals of the Program "National Digital Transformation to 2025, with a vision to 2030" (in Decision 749/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister), towards a digital economy and digital society.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assessed that digital banking transformation has brought many benefits to people, supported businesses in financial management, and transparent cash flow, contributing to improving the efficiency of state management. "Through the reports of comrades and the practical experiences of banking products and services demonstrated today, it can be seen that banking solutions and products and services are all applied and developed based on the application of new technology and are not inferior to those of other countries in the world ...", the Prime Minister emphasized.

In addition to recognizing the achievements, the Prime Minister said that digital transformation is a long journey and there are still many challenges ahead in terms of ensuring security, information security, updating, and adapting to rapid changes in technology... Therefore, the Prime Minister requested the banking industry to adhere to the Government's consistent viewpoint of taking people, businesses, administrative units, and public services as the center, taking customer experience as the measure; at the same time, effectively organize and implement tasks assigned by the Government, ensuring the promotion of digital transformation activities of the industry closely linked to the protection of the legitimate rights and interests of customers.

At its booth, Vietcombank introduced the identification and authentication solution through direct connection (app-to-app) between the Bank app and the VNeID App. Vietcombank is the first bank to apply this solution in the market, bringing a seamless and completely online experience to people. Vietcombank also demonstrated the biometric authentication application using facial data (Facepay) according to the new regulations of the State Bank of Vietnam, helping to strengthen the prevention of fraud and scams in electronic transactions.

Ms. Doan Hong Nhung - Director of Vietcombank Retail Division - introduced Vietcombank's products and services to the delegation led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visiting and experiencing the booths of the event.

Delegates attending the event also listened to presentations from units within the framework of the Conference summarizing digital transformation achievements. Ms. Dinh Thi Thai - Deputy General Director in charge of Risk Management Division also shared information related to the topic of connecting and integrating VNeID application in customer authentication and identification to prevent fraud and scams.

According to Deputy General Director Dinh Thi Thai, banks have proactively increased the frequency of improving warning forms to recommend customers to secure their information and conduct safe online transactions. At Vietcombank, with close coordination with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Public Security, the National Population Data Center and the Department of Administrative Police for Social Order (C06), the technical connection with the National Population Data was completed and many solutions were applied to accurately identify citizens and customers. The connection between the electronic banking transaction application and the VNeID electronic identification application helps banks have a reliable source of customer identification data, provided by the Ministry of Public Security.

Vietcombank has recognized the particularly important role of digital transformation early on and considers it one of the important growth drivers of the bank in the future. Since 2018, Vietcombank has been the first bank to hire foreign consultants to develop a Digital Transformation strategy and this strategy is being strongly implemented. Digital products and services have been continuously launched in recent years, along with the process of strongly upgrading customer experience, which are the initial results of the process of promoting the Digital Transformation strategy at Vietcombank.

With the strategic goal to 2025 and vision to 2030 of continuing to affirm the No. 1 position in Vietnam, standing in the 200 largest banking and financial groups in the world, one of the 700 largest listed enterprises globally, making great contributions to the development of Vietnam, Vietcombank has set out a digital transformation action plan with specific goals and a clear roadmap to gradually improve customer experience, increase efficiency and quality of operations. Vietcombank's strong investment in payment technology and interactive conversation technology with customers is a typical example in the journey to realize the digitalization goal of the Vietnamese banking brand, gradually reaching the regional and world level.
