Carlo Biado wins thrillingly against world number 1
The final match of the World Pool Championship 2025, which took place on the evening of July 26 in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), ended with an emotional victory for Carlo Biado (Philippines). The top Philippine pool player defeated Fedor Gorst (USA), the 2024 champion and currently the world's number 1 player, with a score of 15-13, after a dramatic chase.
This victory helped Carlo Biado step up to the top of the world in the 9-ball pool category for the second time, after his first crown in 2017. With this achievement, Biado entered the history of Philippine billiards. The player born in 1983 has been known as "Efren Reyes the Second". Up to now, he has officially surpassed his predecessor, when the legend Reyes only owned 1 world pool championship.
With this championship, the Filipino player nicknamed "Black Tiger" also received 250,000 USD, equivalent to more than 6.5 billion VND. This is also a record high bonus in the history of the tournament.

At the 2025 World Pool Championship, Vietnam's No. 1 player Duong Quoc Hoang (nicknamed Hoang Sao) continued to affirm his position in the world-class arena. He is the only Vietnamese player to make it to the round of 16 of the tournament's strongest players.
Despite stopping at round 16, Hoang Sao still made a strong impression when competing on par with top players. With this achievement, the player born in 1987 received a bonus of 15,000 USD, nearly 400 million VND.

Luong Duc Thien reached round 32, receiving 7,000 USD (equivalent to 183 million VND). Bui Truong An and Nguyen Anh Tuan (Tkon) both stopped at round 64, receiving 3,500 USD (about 91.5 million VND) each. Pham Phuong Nam could not pass the qualifying round, receiving 1,000 USD (about 26 million VND).
