A long and stressful day for Vietnamese taekwondo.
The taekwondo competition saw a storm brewing when the referee (the head of the refereeing committee, from Singapore) blatantly favored Singapore, prompting both the Vietnamese and Philippine delegations to file complaints, along with a fee of 400 USD.
The joy over Vietnam's successful taekwondo debut quickly turned into shock, outrage, and anger when, despite numerous pieces of evidence presented, the organizing committee ignored the Singaporean athlete's mistakes and upheld the result.

Following the disappointing silver medal in the mixed doubles standard poomsae event, there were periods of anxiety as the men's standard team competition was unsuccessful, while the women's standard team won the bronze medal.

But then, in the final event, taekwondo achieved its goal. The team of five athletes - Nguyen Xuan Thanh, Tram Dang Khoa, Tran Ho Duy, Le Tran Kim Uyen, Nguyen Phan Khanh Han, and Nguyen Thi Y Binh - brilliantly defeated host Thailand, Myanmar, and the Philippines to win the gold medal in the creative team event.
burst of happiness
Our athletes finished the competition with 8,060 points, ahead of Thailand (silver medalist) with 7,940 points and the Philippines (bronze medalist) with 7,580 points. This is the first and only gold medal for Vietnamese taekwondo on December 10th.
Female athlete Nguyen Phan Khanh Han emotionally shared the pressure she felt before the competition: "We were very nervous and anxious, not knowing if the team could win. But we encouraged each other to just do our best in our performance."

An impressive performance by the creative team.

During our recent training sessions, they tried their best on the field. The first match is always a huge challenge for Vietnam, especially with one player injured.
We were very worried about whether we would be able to complete the performance. On the competition field, during preparation, I encouraged everyone to just practice their best, using what they had and showing on the field, trying not to make any mistakes and to complete their performance."
