The Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center Region III (Vietnam Maritime Administration) said that the authorities have just found the body of a crew member of the BV-99778 TS. This is a fishing boat that was sunk by a cargo ship in the waters of Con Dao 3 days ago.
The body of this crew member was found drifting at sea about 12 nautical miles northeast of the location of the ship accident. The specialized ship SAR 413 of the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center Region III picked it up and brought it to the rescue at noon of the same day. However, the victim's identity has not been determined.
One crew member of the fishing boat is still missing.

As reported by VietNamNet , at around 3:30 p.m. on September 19, Con Dao Border Guard Station (Border Guard of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) received a report that fishing boat BV-99778 TS - captained by Mr. Phan Van Tot (46 years old, residing in Vung Tau city) - was sunk by a foreign cargo ship while fishing in the sea about 20 nautical miles southeast of Con Dao.
All 14 people on board the fishing boat fell into the sea. The boat still contained about 20,000 liters of DO oil.
At 8:30 p.m. the same day, two fishing boats of fishermen fishing at sea nearby successfully rescued 12 crew members and brought them safely to shore. Among them, one crew member had a severed upper third of his left leg and was taken to the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center for emergency treatment.
There are two missing crew members, Le Van Ut and Nguyen Van Lua.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center of Region III coordinated with the Coast Guard Region 3 Command, the Border Guard Command of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and the People's Committee of Con Dao district and related units to organize plans to search for the missing crew members.
On September 20, the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province issued an official dispatch requesting relevant units to urgently respond to and search for the crew of fishing boat BV-99778 TS.
Currently, the rescue team is continuing to search for the remaining crew member and notifying vehicles operating in the area for assistance.
Current weather conditions in the area are southwest wind level 5-6, gust level 7, waves over 2m high.
