It can be said that the fashion industry is one of the industries that brings the highest economic profits. It is no coincidence that recently, economic powers have called on humanity to increase the use of sustainable fashion. Will the global economy then shift?
In Vietnam, in the first 6 months of 2024, textiles and garments were one of the industries with the highest export turnover in the country with 16.282 billion USD, an increase of 3% over the same period last year.
In addition, according to a Greenpeace report, we are now buying 60% more clothes than before, but using 50% less of the items we own. Why is there such excessive waste?
At the workshop “ECOCHIC: Dress well – Live green” last week, Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Thao gave a speech that most attendees agreed with: “Women always feel like they have nothing to wear even though their wardrobes are always overloaded. Many people are addicted to online shopping, losing money and getting frustrated when the products online and the results in real life are both funny and sad. It is a waste of money to throw them away, but it is useless to keep them.”
Understanding the concerns of not only women, DNXH LoveYourBody in collaboration with be STYLE be YOU and Exchange by AIA conducted a workshop on fashion trends to provide useful information on shaping personal fashion style, aiming for a minimalist lifestyle in a reasonable and sustainable way to contribute to environmental protection as well as having a smarter and more humane financial plan.

Sustainable fashion brings high economic value
The biggest reason is that we do not have enough knowledge and judgment, so we DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO WEAR SUITABLY and DO NOT KNOW HOW TO COMBINE IT for long-term use. According to Ms. Thao Tran and stylist Dao Tran, knowing how to choose and coordinate suitable outfits to make full use of existing items without having to buy too many things is also saving costs, increasing product benefits and contributing to environmental protection.
Ms. Truong Ngoc Minh Dang - Founder of LoveYourBody - a social enterprise operating for women and children also said: "We encourage everyone in general and women in particular to clearly understand and identify their personal style, thereby confidently stepping out into the world to not only bring economic resources for themselves but also help develop smart financial thinking and awareness for the next generation because I believe that 90% of the family's clothing and style depends on the vision of the woman, wife, and mother in the family".
The workshop took place at Exchange by AIA space – Vincom Center Dong Khoi |
At the workshop, guests learned about personal style from determining personality colors, seasonal groups, color groups as well as basic instructions on how to determine skin undertones to dress and apply makeup appropriately for each purpose.

Each person will have different measurements even though the world has many common standards, however, depending on lifestyle and work as well as preferences, especially the "dream body and personal structure" of each person is different. Experts and guests including Miss Nong Thuy Hang and stylist Kevin Long have instructed how to determine personal body shape through measurements, through shoulder, back, arm, leg index and external senses...
In addition, the program also introduces styles and characteristics, thereby helping guests identify the appropriate style through professional tests, from which they can apply mix and match so that each outfit is lived in the most meaningful way, creating sympathy as well as the unique personality of each guest.
