“Only when we see each family that is eligible for support to remove temporary and dilapidated houses can we fully appreciate the meaning and humane value of this movement. They are all disadvantaged people in society and we will not leave them behind on the path to prosperity, progress, happiness, and civilization.”
Colonel Nguyen Truong Vinh, Head of Economic - Defense Group 78 (Army Corps 15) shared this when he and we visited and encouraged 39 households in Sa Thay district, Kon Tum province, who received support from the unit to remove temporary and dilapidated houses during this period.
According to Colonel Nguyen Truong Vinh, the emulation movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is a major policy of the Party and State, with profound humanity, and is supported and strongly responded to by the entire political system, armed forces, business community and people. Economic - Defense Group 78 also commits and strives to achieve the goal. Eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses to bring joy and happiness to workers and people.
The area where Economic - Defense Group 78 is stationed and performs its duties has a 51.1km long border with 17 ethnic groups living together, of which ethnic minorities account for more than 74%. The socio-economic conditions and people's lives are still very difficult. A solid, spacious house is a dream, a solid support for each family to settle down and escape poverty sustainably. Therefore, in recent years, Economic - Defense Group 78 has had many good ways to mobilize resources and funds to support workers and people to build 50 "Comrade Houses", "Great Unity Houses", "Sentiment 78", "Charity Houses", with a total value of nearly 3 billion VND. Of which, "Sentiment 78 House" was built from monthly contributions of the unit's officers and employees.
"In 2025, up to now, Economic - Defense Group 78 has mobilized 1.745 billion VND, along with hundreds of working days to help people eliminate 39 temporary and dilapidated houses and has organized the construction of 24 houses, of which 3 houses have been completed and handed over to families for use. The remaining houses are expected to be completed before July 15, 2025. At the same time, implementing the direction of Major General Hoang Van Sy, Commander of Army Corps 15, the unit continues to review and mobilize resources to support people to eliminate more temporary and dilapidated houses in the coming time. The Party Committee and Command of Economic - Defense Group 78 determined that this is one of the key political tasks, the responsibility and gratitude of the unit towards the people", Colonel Nguyen Truong Vinh shared.
As the Head of the 78th Economic - Defense Group said, the families who are eligible for support to remove temporary and dilapidated houses are all in very difficult circumstances and a house is their dream. Mr. A Sach and Ms. Y Thuy, residing in Kdin village, Mo Rai border commune, Sa Thay district, were radiant on the day they moved into their new home, with smiles always on the lips of the young couple.
Mr. A Sach said that this is a great joy and happiness that his family would never have had without the care and support of the 78th Economic - Defense Group. Mr. A Sach is a Jrai ethnic, from Dak Ring commune, Kon Plong district, who came here to make a living. He and his wife got married with almost nothing, but were fortunate to be accepted as workers by the 78th Economic - Defense Group to have a stable income, and now they are also supported with working days and funds to build a new house. With a new house, the couple can rest assured, work hard in production, and contribute to the development of the Mo Rai border area.
Mr. A Bien, a Jrai ethnic, residing in Ia Xoăn village, Mô Rai commune, has been married to Ms. Y Loan, a Ro Mam ethnic for many years but still lives in a temporary house. On the day the 78th Economic - Defense Group and the local government came to start building their new house, they cried tears of joy. Mr. A Bien told everyone that his family is a family of national solidarity, and the house that the 78th Economic - Defense Group helped build is a family of military-civilian solidarity. Unity is strength, unity is success.
Comrade Le Van Cao, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Mo Rai commune, affirmed that the joint efforts of Economic - Defense Group 78 to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for the people are very practical and meaningful. Because the implementation of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in Mo Rai commune in particular and Sa Thay district in general is facing many difficulties due to the large number of houses, limited funding, and urgent time. Therefore, it is necessary to have the participation of the entire political system, organizations, and business community, especially the consensus and joint efforts of military units, for the peaceful and happy life of the people.
