Xuan Son is ready to return to the Vietnamese national team

After the recent draw with HAGL, coach of Nam Dinh Steel, Nguyen Trung Kien revealed, "Nguyen Xuan Son has recovered 100% and is in the best physical condition, so that when the procedures are completed, he can compete in round 11."

This is very good news for the fans of the football team in the South as well as Vietnamese fans. Since breaking his shin in the second leg of the final match of the ASEAN Cup 2024 against Thailand, Xuan Son had to undergo surgery and was out of action for the past 10 months. After efforts in training and recovery, a few days ago he was able to enter the field at the end of the second half in the friendly match between Nam Dinh Green Steel and PVF-CAND Youth.

However, Xuan Son cannot play in round 11 of LPBank V.League 2025/26 because he was not registered in phase 1. He will only return in phase 2, with the registration deadline taking place from January 25. That means at the earliest, Xuan Son will play from round 12, the away match at Thanh Hoa Stadium on February 1, 2026. However, he is eligible to play in the National Cup 2025/26 in the round of 16 match against Long An on November 23, because he was registered by Nam Dinh Blue Steel from the beginning.

As for the Vietnamese team, coach Kim Sang-sik does not want to wait any longer. The Korean strategist is planning to call up Xuan Son for a training session in November, preparing for the match against Laos on November 19 in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. On the team, the team of doctors will re-evaluate his physical condition, and the coaching staff will also consider Xuan Son's performance before deciding whether he will play in the match against Laos or not.
