TPO - On the morning of September 5, the opening ceremony at Tuong Lai Special School (Hai Chau Ward, Da Nang City) for autistic, hearing-impaired, mentally retarded children,... took place with many especially emotional moments.

The bustling atmosphere of the new school year at Tuong Lai Special School (Hai Chau ward), a school dedicated to students with less fortunate fates.

Tuong Lai Special School currently teaches children with autism, hearing impairment, mental retardation and some other types of disabilities.

In the 2025-2026 school year, the school will admit 34 more students, bringing the total number of students to 268.

Taking her child to welcome the new school year, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyen could not hide her tears of happiness. "My child has Down syndrome, so this opening day is a very special day for him as well as for his family. From early morning, he was eager to go to school. When I saw him and his friends participating in the opening ceremony of the new school year, I felt very happy and moved," Ms. Nguyen shared.

When the opening bell rang, many students shyly held their teachers' hands, some smiled brightly and clapped their hands with delight, others just looked around silently.

Teacher Tran Thi Minh Yen shared, “A student here needs many times more effort than a normal student. Most of the children here are special children, so each class hour is a challenge. We just hope to have enough health, patience and love to continue to take good care of and teach the children in the new school year,” said Ms. Yen.

Mr. Nguyen Duy Quy, Principal of Tuong Lai Specialized School, emotionally shared: In the 2024-2025 school year, the school still had many difficulties in terms of facilities, and students still had specific behaviors that made maintaining discipline not really stable. However, thanks to the attention of leaders at all levels, along with the support of parents, teachers and school staff, we have gradually overcome obstacles, helping students practice and study better.

“The new school year opens with many difficulties and challenges, but also full of goals and expectations. We believe that, with the dedication of teachers and the efforts of students in studying and training, Tuong Lai Specialized School will continue to reap more success in the upcoming journey,” Mr. Quy shared.
