Yen Bai has 222 plant variety businesses.

Since the beginning of the year, the province's specialized agencies have issued 2 certificates of eligibility for fertilizer trading and 8 certificates of eligibility for pesticide trading. To date, the province has 222 establishments trading in plant varieties; 457 establishments trading in pesticides, 509 establishments trading in fertilizers and 7 establishments producing fertilizers.

In the 2024 - 2025 Winter-Spring crop, businesses and units inside and outside the province, through the supply system, provided about 840 tons of rice seeds, 600 tons of corn seeds, 28 tons of pesticides and 55,000 tons of various fertilizers of guaranteed quality for production, contributing to the completion of the plan targets.

The result is that specialized agencies and functional forces in the province have established inspection teams. Through inspection and assessment, all facilities are qualified to trade in fertilizers and pesticides.

For the Provincial Plant and Animal Breeding Center, seeds have been produced on an area of 32 hectares (Dong Cuong farm 18 hectares, Nghia Van farm 8 hectares, Dai Phac commune 6 hectares) including the following varieties: Seng Cu, Te Ken, NTS01. The expected yield is 4 - 4.5 tons/ha, the output is 125-130 tons. In the 2024 - 2025 Winter-Spring crop, the Center has supplied over 40 tons of seeds for production including the following varieties: Seng Cu, Chiem Huong, NH36... In addition, the Center has organized rice variety testing with a total of 14 rice varieties, including 8 purebred rice varieties and 6 hybrid rice varieties.

In the coming time, the province's specialized sectors will strengthen inspection and control of the trading of seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides to prevent price increases and poor quality goods from affecting production.
