20 years in prison for illegal possession of drugs

On July 24, the Provincial People's Court opened an online trial for the case of illegal possession of narcotics.

Accordingly, the defendants: Do Van Trung (born in 1970, residing in Nam Dinh city, Nam Dinh province); Do Quoc Dat (born in 1987, residing in Nghia Hung district, Nam Dinh province) were brought to trial for illegal possession of narcotics. The central bridge point is located at the Provincial People's Court, the component bridge point is located at the Provincial Police Detention Center.

According to the indictment of the Provincial People's Procuracy, with the purpose of buying drugs for his own use, on the evening of July 15, 2022, Do Van Trung took a passenger car to Liem Tuyen commune, Phu Ly city, Ha Nam province to buy 351.64 grams of drugs (Heroin type) from an unknown person for 20 million VND, then together with Do Quoc Dat brought the above drugs to Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province, with the purpose of going to Dat's friend's house to play, then dividing the drugs for use.

At 0:30 a.m. on July 16, 2022, when both of them brought drugs to Tuan Kiet motel in hamlet 10, Yen Loc commune, Kim Son district, they were discovered and caught red-handed by the Kim Son district police working group.

Faced with the incriminating evidence as well as the results of public questioning at the trial, the defendants Do Van Trung and Do Quoc Dat confessed to all of their crimes.

Pursuant to the provisions of the Penal Code, the Trial Panel sentenced the defendants Do Van Trung and Do Quoc Dat to 20 years in prison. The online trial was held in accordance with the prescribed order and procedures.
