Mong Cai City People's Committee has just provided initial information about the fire that occurred at Mong Cai International Border Gate this morning (March 5).

Specifically, the fire broke out at 8:15 a.m. in the baggage and import goods inspection and supervision area of ​​Mong Cai International Border Gate Customs.

At that time, a Vietnamese citizen, while going through immigration procedures, carried a backpack containing coiled goods.

When arriving at the inspection and supervision area for imported goods and luggage, this person's backpack spontaneously caught fire and burned 4 people (including 1 officer of Mong Cai Customs Branch and 3 Vietnamese people).

Immediately after the incident, authorities at the border gate promptly organized rescue of victims, moved property to a safe place and extinguished the fire.

Leaders of Mong Cai City and the Border Guard Command of Quang Ninh Province also arrived at the scene to direct the work of overcoming the consequences; at the same time, stabilize the situation, arrange traffic flow, and organize normal immigration and exit activities.

Currently, the Mong Cai International Border Gate Border Guard Station is coordinating with relevant agencies to investigate, verify and clarify the cause of the incident.
