The People's Committee of Mong Cai City has just released initial information about the fire that occurred at the Mong Cai International Border Gate this morning (March 5).

Specifically, the fire occurred at 8:15 AM in the baggage and goods inspection and monitoring area of ​​the Mong Cai International Border Gate Customs.

At that time, a Vietnamese citizen, while going through immigration procedures, was carrying a backpack containing coiled goods.

Upon arriving at the customs inspection and baggage screening area, the man's backpack spontaneously caught fire, burning four people (including one officer from the Mong Cai Customs Sub-department and three Vietnamese citizens).

Immediately after the incident occurred, authorities at the border crossing promptly organized rescue efforts for the victims, moved property to a safe location, and extinguished the fire.

Leaders of Mong Cai City and the Border Guard Command of Quang Ninh province also arrived at the scene to direct the work of khắc phục hậu quả (remedying the consequences); at the same time, stabilizing the situation, arranging traffic flow, and organizing normal immigration and emigration activities.

Currently, the Mong Cai International Border Gate Border Guard Station is coordinating with relevant agencies to investigate, verify, and clarify the cause of the incident.
