One Commune One Product (abbreviated as OCOP program) aims to improve the rural economy in the direction of developing internal strength and improving added value. In that overview, building and consolidating the OCOP brand is considered the foundation, the launching pad to accelerate the National Target Program on New Rural Development, focusing on developing advantageous agricultural and service products undertaken by private and collective economic sectors.
Looking back after 6 years, we can see that Nghe An has made great strides in its journey to conquer the "OCOP peak" through many good models, effective and creative methods, with breakthrough directions, thereby contributing to clearly improving the quality of goods and typical agricultural products in many aspects, ensuring both abundance in quantity and diversity in types and quality. This contributes to shifting the economic structure, improving the income and life of rural people, and at the same time concretizing the group of criteria "Economy and production organization" in the National criteria set for new rural communes.

According to the Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper, in the process of organizing and evaluating the classification of OCOP products in 2024, Nghe An has selected 83 more products with 3-star or higher ratings, thereby accumulating the number of OCOP products in the whole province to 634, a truly impressive number, enough to bring the locality to the top 2 in the country (only after Hanoi) in implementing the OCOP Program.
This is truly a miracle if we go back in time to the starting point, at that time Nghe An faced too many challenges and difficulties, the majority of subjects were still vague about the "OCOP concept", so planning strategies and building paths were not simple, combined with limited financial resources, it invisibly created piled-up pressure.
To untie the knot, it is necessary to have the participation of the entire political system, combined with the spirit of overcoming difficulties of the subjects directly involved. Under the close direction of the People's Council and People's Committee of Nghe An province, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and related units have promoted propaganda work, providing detailed and clear instructions to beneficiaries to clearly understand the overview and content of the program, know their position, and how they benefit, thereby proposing plans and solutions suitable to the practical situation.

On the other hand, Nghe An province has also flexibly issued many practical support policies to create motivation to stimulate demand. Based on this, the subjects have boldly approached the scientific and technical foundation, invested in specialized equipment to transform the form of production from small-scale to concentrated, large-scale.
The change in “thinking” has created a fundamental shift, demonstrated through the formation of many value-added production chains such as sugarcane, tea, oranges; attracting dozens of enterprises inside and outside the province to link with cooperatives, cooperative groups, and farmers to produce valuable products such as rice, tea, sugarcane, cassava, dairy cows, etc.
Currently, the whole province has about 300 Cooperatives, over 120 Cooperative Groups, about 140 farms maintaining close links with reputable businesses. Once the output is properly resolved, the value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products will increase. That alone is enough to see the difference of the One Commune One Product Program in Nghe An.
