On the afternoon of August 6, at the Party Central Committee headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Sandeep Arya.

General Secretary To Lam warmly congratulated the Indian people on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the Independence Day of the Republic of India (August 15, 1947 - August 15, 2025) and the remarkable achievements that India has made in the past, especially in the fields of socio -economic development, science and technology and enhancing the country's position in the region and in the international arena.

The General Secretary affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to the traditional friendship nurtured by many generations of leaders and people of the two countries; and thanked India for supporting and assisting Vietnam throughout the past struggle for national independence and current national construction.

Appreciating the positive and effective development of the relationship between the two countries in many fields, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that India is one of Vietnam's leading comprehensive strategic partners in the region. The two sides have high political trust, many similar strategic interests, and a long-standing foundation of cultural and ethnic exchange and connection.

The General Secretary emphasized that this is a very important foundation to continue to develop the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership more strongly, effectively and deeply, maximizing the potential and advantages of the two countries.

General Secretary To Lam suggested that the Indian Ambassador pay attention to promoting bilateral cooperation areas, especially increasing the exchange of high-level delegations and all levels; effectively implementing the high-level agreements that have been reached; strengthening defense and security cooperation; promoting economic connectivity, striving to bring the two countries' trade turnover to 20 billion USD and doubling two-way investment; expanding cooperation in science and technology, innovation; promoting cooperation in culture, education, religion, tourism... to meet the requirements and development orientations in the new period of the two countries and contributing to consolidating the peaceful, stable and developing environment in the region and the world.

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam also conveyed his regards to Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and invited the Indian leaders to arrange to visit Vietnam at a suitable time.

Ambassador Sandeep Arya expressed his joy and honor to be received by General Secretary To Lam; conveyed the greetings of the Indian leaders to the General Secretary; and sincerely thanked General Secretary To Lam for his valuable support and good feelings for India and the India-Vietnam relationship.

The Ambassador warmly congratulated Vietnam on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day; expressed admiration for the socio-economic development achievements Vietnam has made in recent times, and highly appreciated the clear vision and determination of the Party and State of Vietnam in promoting reforms, with a new development strategy, bringing the country into an era of growth.

The Ambassador expressed his belief that under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by General Secretary To Lam, Vietnam will successfully achieve the goal of becoming a developed country by 2045.

Pleased to report to the General Secretary about the good developments in the multifaceted cooperation relationship between the two countries recently, Ambassador Sandeep Arya said that the two sides are actively coordinating to implement high-level agreements and the Action Program to implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the 2024-2028 period.

The Ambassador emphasized that India has strengths in many fields such as science and technology, information technology, and artificial intelligence, and is ready to share experiences and further strengthen cooperation with Vietnam to jointly realize development goals in the new period.

Ambassador Sandeep Arya affirmed that India considers Vietnam one of its leading important partners in the region.

Sharing the opinion of General Secretary To Lam, the Indian Ambassador affirmed that he will continue to closely coordinate with Vietnamese ministries, branches and localities to further deepen cooperation between the two countries, especially in important areas such as defense, security, economy, trade, investment, science and technology, people-to-people exchange, education, training, tourism, etc., continuing to bring the relationship into comprehensive depth, commensurate with potential and political trust.
