This is a modern method, helping viewers enter the creative world of artists, better understand the aesthetic values, thoughts and emotions conveyed in each work, thereby contributing to bringing art closer to the public.

The paths of art
The Art talk - Art paths with the theme "Riêng một đường Phong", took place at the end of October at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, attracting a large number of professionals and art lovers. The main character is painter Đào Hải Phong - a representative face of contemporary Vietnamese fine arts, famous for his vibrant, emotional color palette and unique style of expression.
With over 30 years of painting, artist Dao Hai Phong has established a solid position in the art world. His familiar landscapes, from rooftops, rows of trees, river banks to small streets, always shine with a unique light, both calm and clear, and poignant and nostalgic. For him, art is first and foremost a state of emotion and the artist must be true to that emotion.
During the conversation, he shared about his creative journey, from the first years of holding a brush to finding his personal style. The theme “A Unique Style” is also the creative philosophy he pursues: Steadfast, unique and full of emotion. According to the artist, determining his “taste” in creation is the core element of an artist. If you let yourself be immersed in ugliness, your emotions will be distorted; but when you live in a space of beauty, your soul and creative energy will also become pure and good.
Therefore, artist Dao Hai Phong chose to stick with the theme of landscape, which seems simple, but requires perseverance to maintain emotions and vitality over time. The artist believes that each landscape painting is a slice of the soul. On the same road, the same roof, but when people are happy, the painting brightens; when sad, the colors fade. It is the honesty with that emotion that creates "Phong's style" - a unique mark in Vietnamese painting today.
Previously, at the end of July 2025, the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum launched the Art talk series - Artistic paths with a conversation with the theme "Tran Thanh Thuc - Quietly a line of fabric paintings". Here, the public learned more about the persistent creative journey of female artist Tran Thanh Thuc - a pioneer and more than four decades of steadfast attachment to the fabric painting material.
The opportunity to come to fabric painting began in her twenties, when she accidentally pieced together scraps of fabric while visiting her tailor friend's house. "The multicolored scraps of fabric attracted me at first sight" - the artist recounted. Since then, the artist has passionately pursued and devoted herself to this special genre of painting. The joy of artist Tran Thanh Thuc is to "transform" seemingly disparate pieces of fabric into unique works of art, which are warmly welcomed by the public.
According to artist Tran Thanh Thuc, when an artist chooses a material, he must accept the challenges that material brings. Unlike oil paint or lacquer, fabric paintings cannot be mixed with a palette. Artists "mix" colors by layering fabric, each layer being a new shade. In some paintings, the fabric is layered up to 4-5 times, creating a visual effect and depth. Thanks to that, the space in the painting seems to be expanded, the light becomes more sparkling and vivid...
Connect and spread creative inspiration
Art talk - Art paths is a series of regular exchange and conversation programs organized by the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum. Each talk is a "stop" on the art map, where the public can listen, talk and feel the creative spirit of the artist.
Sharing about this idea, Dr. Nguyen Anh Minh, Director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, said: “The series of programs is organized with the desire to exploit the life stories and career stories of those who have devoted themselves and made their mark on their artistic path.” According to Dr. Nguyen Anh Minh, in the coming time, the museum will continue to introduce unique painting genres such as rice paintings, sand paintings, gemstone paintings, etc., targeting artists of different generations, trends and fields to expand the space for dialogue and experience for the public.
Artist Tran Thanh Thuc shared that through Art talk - The paths of art, she had the opportunity to look back on her artistic journey in a more profound way. According to the artist, Art talk is not only a place for artists to share their journeys but also an opportunity for the younger generation to better understand the value of artistic work. She met many young people who are passionate about learning about fabric paintings, wanting to explore and try their hand at this seemingly simple but challenging material. "Seeing young people passionately exploring, I have more faith that art always has its own life, always inherited and continued" - the artist emotionally shared. Artist Tran Thanh Thuc also expressed that the conversation gave her a new source of energy to continue creating and contributing.
The Vietnam Fine Arts Museum hopes that Art Talk - Art Paths will become a creative bridge between artists and art lovers, a place to nurture the love of beauty, stimulate dialogue and spread aesthetic values in contemporary life. The program also demonstrates the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum's efforts in bringing art closer to the community, through intuitive, vivid and humane forms of experience.
In the context of a vibrant artistic life, Art Talk sessions contribute to expanding the public's approach to art. In many countries with developed fine arts, dialogue between artists and the public is a popular form. In Vietnam, this model is still new, but the pioneering implementation of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum has created a "new breeze" in artistic exchange, bringing a space to enjoy, share and spread true aesthetic values.
