Implementing the cooperation agreement on developing typical agricultural, farmer and rural models associated with new rural construction between the National Agricultural Extension Center, the Central Office for New Rural Development (NTM) Coordination and Thien Tam Fund (founded and sponsored by Vingroup ) signed on March 16, 2023. With the mission of "For a better life for everyone", in 2024, the units coordinated and surveyed 171 cooperatives (Cooperatives) in 40 provinces/cities across the country.
After a thorough evaluation and selection process, the Central units have selected 69 typical cooperatives that meet the criteria to participate in the Program. Up to now, the disbursement of funds to 69 cooperatives nationwide has been completed, and the handover and support of equipment, materials, seedlings, and livestock have been quickly implemented to keep up with the crop season for cooperatives and the people.
In the Central Highlands, there are 8 cooperatives that meet the criteria to participate in the program. Each cooperative receives 1 billion VND of interest-free support capital from Thien Tam Fund for a period of 10 years. The support capital helps cooperatives invest in modern equipment such as: trucks, cold storage systems, drones, coffee bean processing equipment, dryers, color sorters, etc.
Mr. Nguyen Ba Truc - Director of Minh Quan Agricultural Service Cooperative, Van Lem Commune, Dak To District said: Currently, the Cooperative is cooperating with 380 households, including 267 ethnic minority households growing ginger, turmeric, chili, ginseng, wild bitter melon... Having a capital support of 1 billion VND from Thien Tam Fund helps the Cooperative invest in building a cold storage , vacuum condensation system, moisture analyzer, conveyor belt. Thereby, helping the Cooperative increase processing capacity, competitiveness to meet export orders and most importantly, purchasing products of associated households, helping to increase income for people.
Mr. Ly Minh Tuan - Director of Thien Tam Fund said: Instead of the traditional way of supporting each household, the Project has shifted to directly supporting the Cooperative. The Cooperative, as a legal entity representing the interests of its members, farmers will receive preferential interest-free support capital from Thien Tam Fund with a value of 1 billion VND with a commitment to create more stable jobs for poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households in the locality with a minimum income of over 1 million VND/household/month.
This method will bring economic efficiency in the shortest time, helping poor households have a stable source of income right from the beginning of participating in the project.
In 2024 and the coming years, the National Agricultural Extension Center and the Central New Rural Coordination Office will continue to coordinate with Thien Tam Fund to implement a program to support typical agricultural cooperatives, especially rice-growing cooperatives participating in the program "One million hectares of rice to reduce emissions" and many other programs to contribute to the country's agriculture to develop strongly and reach the world level.
